Vehicle Detail
1972 Mercedes Benz 309 Diesel Bus Project RV Hauler. Very nice hard to find Benz 309 bus. Super cool project van. Great for your RV or hauler project. Same type of Mercedes van used by West Coast Custom Van’s Off the Wall Skateboard build in California last year. Less than 122k original miles. Heavy duty Mercedes four cylinder non-turbo diesel motor with manual transmission and mechanical fuel injection. These Mercedes OM-314 diesel engines are designed to run for one million miles. The 309’s are very simple super reliable vehicles still in use across the world today in many countries. You will get 20 MPG on the highway. Dual rear wheels. These vehicles were over-built to the highest quality standards. The OM-314 four cylinder diesel with mechanical injection is one of the strongest and most reliable engines Mercedes ever built. This bus is in good overall condition. Some rust but it’s minimal. The original interior has been stripped out. Ready to use for your RV conversion, work truck, toy hauler, etc. Needs a windshield which is available in the US new or used very reasonably. This truck comes with an extra engine that was removed from a good running 60 foot sailboat and disassembled. Includes a nice spare hood and grill. Heavy chrome factory rear bumper. Box of spare factory oil and fuel filters. Factory diesel powered space heater for the cabin. Includes the very large orignial Mercedes star emblem for the front grill and O-309 stainless badges. A couple of the original windows in the center of the van were removed at one point to start an RV conversion. There are thin metal sheets riveted up over the old window openings that you can see in the picture. These thin pieces are kind of rusty as you can see in the picture. They can be cleaned up or replaced with something of better quality or maybe modern RV windows. This is the kind of van recently featured on West Coast Customs. West Coast built one of these trucks earlier this year for Van’s Off the Wall complete with a skateboard ramp inside and a raised plexiglass roof, see picture below. Parts for these vans are available from Mercedes and some after market suppliers. The parts are generally not expensive and used parts are available. The 309 is a really nice RV, shop van or weekend family or hauling cruiser with lots of room. The van is being sold as is. Bill of sale only. This is a project vehicle. The engine turns but we have not run or registered in many years. Truck is being in sold as / where it is condition. We have too many projects and need to make some room. Please call with any questions. Thank you. Bill (917) 865-5000
