Vehicle Detail

1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfaila Camper 1.9L Fuel injected engine. I have owned this vehicle for the last 12 years, and I believe I'm the third owner. The last "real" trip we took was in 2008 when we drove out west to Montana. To get ready for that trip I purchased a new 3 window canvas for the pop-top and a "add-a-room" stand alone tent that attaches to the vehicle and doubles the useable space. At the time of the trip, the stove, sink, refrigerator, pop-top all worked well. I have it set up with a "perko" switch so you can run dual batteries. It allows you to separate the starting battery from the camp battery thereby never having to worry about running the main battery down. Of course if you're at a site with electric hook up you can just plug her in.As you can in the pictures, the body is rough. The paint is very faded and the body has dents. The sliding door looks great, so my guess is that it was professionally replaced/repainted sometime before I owned it. I put new tires on it in 1999 and they have low miles but this vehicle has lived outdoors in the driveway. This was the first year to be water-cooled. As you know, the radiator is in the front and the engine is in the rear. VW used steel tubing to carry the coolant in the early years and this vehicle is no exception. I believe there are two kits available to correct this: one uses plastic tubes, the other, stainless steel. The camper is NOT leaking coolant and will start and drive anywhere, I'm only trying to represent the vehicle honestly and say that I would change the tubes, if just for peace of mind. Also I would change out the plastic hatch cover in the pop-top as it's cracked. If I were to do it, I would install one with a 12v fan.If this were a syncro model I wouldn't be selling. I moving out west and must have a 4wd vehicle. My everyday car is a jeep so no problem, but the Westy must go.Please ask any and all questions before bidding. I've tried to describe it honestly, and thanks for looking.
