Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my 1946 Willys Overland CJ2A. I got this jeep last year from a fellow in Oregon. I wanted to keep it “as is” and had no plans of restoring it. However, I no longer have the time or space for this wonderful jeep. I am hoping that someone out there will and that they can enjoy it for many years. I purchased the vehicle last year from the second owner. The previous owner purchased the jeep from its original owner in the 1950s. It spent most of its life in the deserts of Oregon or exploring Death Valley canyons on family vacations. A hitch, brake system, and Warn hubs were eventually added for flat towing. A Meyers Aircraft Company aluminum hard top was added, too, but fortunately the original soft top was kept. It also has a functioning Harrison heater under the passenger side of the dash. In the 1960’s the vehicle passed from father to son and the son added some amenities, including wood paneling and cushions that sit over the wheel wells. The paneling is just for looks and can easily be removed. A good mechanical refurbishing was done in the late 1980s. The motor and transfer case were rebuilt and a 12 volt alternator was installed. While the charging system was upgraded to 12 volts the original starter was kept and a voltage reduction was used to retain the original instruments. While here in Wisconsin, the jeep only rarely left my garage and it was kept in storage over the winter months. The vehicle is in near original condition, including the original column shift and soft-top. The body has two layers of paint over the original pasture green color, but the green is exposed in several locations, which I think is pretty cool. You may be able to strip off the blue to get back to the green if you wanted something more original. The tub and frame are remarkably solid. There is some rust-through on one of the side steps and through the hat channels under the tub. The engine starts and runs fine. The brakes function properly. The transmission shifts smoothly and the transfer case functions fine. This is truly a classic vehicle that’s ready to be driven again and enjoyed. Please feel free to email with any questions. Thanks for looking!
