Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1977 B30 Dodge Van. I have owned it for about three years. It is a real attention getter driving through town. I bought it from an retired German immigrant engineer. He started a log book the day he bought it, in which he recorded every penny, every repair, and every gallon of fuel that went into the vehicle, from brand new (complete with window sticker) to 124K miles when I bought it. The journal goes with the van. He even compression tested each cylinder every few years and recorded the results. Interior is amazingly original and in great condition. Rear Seats look pristinely unused. Original carpet is in near new condition. There is one crack in the dash, but all glass is perfect. It has a 2" receiver hitch, but the wiring harness has lost the plug. Tires have about 70% tread. It runs and drives very well, but is a little cold natured. It has a manual choke which can be tricky for some (my wife hates it). The outside body has a few dents and dings typical for a vehicle this age, and except for the drivers side has no rust whatsoever. It was given a Ziebart anti rust treatment when it was purchased (see journal for date) which protected it from the typical rust out, but apparently they missed the lower body panels on the drivers side (see pics). Except for this area, there is no rust at all. There is a trailer brake controller on the steering column. It lights up when you put on the brakes, but I have never used it. There is an annoying exhaust leak on the right side of the engine (chek, chek, chek), so I know it needs an exhaust manifold gasket. Plugs, wires, rotor and cap were replaced less than 1000 miles ago. There is a leaking valve cover gasket on the motor which has the whole motor looking greasy. It has a fresh oil and filter change with Lucas oil additive and a Lucas leak stopper, which seems to be working as the engine is looking dryer all the time. Curise control quit working only recently; I suspect a vacuum leak. Power breaks and power steering work fine, but brakes need to be bled as the pedal feels a little mushy. Battery was installed about two months ago. I transfered the plates to another vehicle, so it has been sitting in the yard for about two months. I drive it around the block every week just to keep the juices flowing, but this van would make a great vehicle for someone. I had planned to restore it completely because it looks so cool and retro, but I just bought a 1963 Chevy Pickup that has now caught my fancy. Personally, I would not be afraid to drive it for a couple hunderd miles, but if you are going a long way, I would suggest a trailer just to be safe; nobody wants to chance a break down 500 miles from home. There is absolutely NO RESERVE, and I have the clear title in hand. No minimum bids, no lies, no tricks, no bull; the highest bidder takes it home. I will accept PayPal for a $100 deposit, with a bank check or cash for the remainder when you pick it up. If you need specific info, feel free to call Mark at 812-797-3406On Oct-23-10 at 11:54:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Attention Bidders... As of Today, Saturday October 23, the van title has disappeared; I had it out for the auction, and I suspect one of my seven children moved it. If I have not found it by the close of the auction, I will go to the DMV and get a duplicate title. This will allow us to finalize the transaction when you come and get it. Rest assured the van has a good, clear title, and one way or another, I will have it in hand for the winning bidder ASAP. The DMV is closed on Monday, so I will be there early Tuesday. Sorry for the inconvenience. If anyone desires to retract your bid, just let me know. Feel free to call if you have questions. Mark Mathis 812-797-3406
