I'm listing this car for a friend that owns it in Woodland California and the description below is his. Any questions should be directed to him at his E-mail This Fairlane is in very good condition. It currently runs and drives, it's is a 6 cylinder engine with automatic transmission. The engine seems to run fine and the transmission shifts normally through all the gears. I have driven it to the hardware store and the market on several occasions. It is not though, ready for regular daily driving, since there are still a few items which need attention. The turn signals do not work and the wipers should be converted to electric. The brakes work and do stop the car, but as with any 50 year old car, the brakes are perhaps the most important system in the car and should be looked at in detail prior to using the car on a regular basis. The body is good with only a couple areas of minor rust. As you can see, there has been some body work started and painted over with primer. The floors and trunk are still good. The stainless and trim is in good shape but some of the clips need to be replaced. All the glass is usable with one very small rock chip in the windshield and a crack in the drivers door glass. The interior was reupholstered by the previous owner. Its done in period correct style, but in velor instead of vinyl. Its very comfortable and looks nice. The headliner is intact and good shape with no tears or holes. I've been working on small items while selling the car. I replaced the stop light switch to make the brake lights work and changed the bulbs as well. I installed an electric fuel pump with a pressure regulator to bypass the stock pump. The fuel tank is bypassed for now, I will be checking it out this week and I will post info on the progress. The points and plugs were cleaned and adjusted. The parking brake was adjusted and now works well. Yes, it's not a Crown Victoria, but it's not priced like one either. Some have suggested that an engine from a Thunderbird would do well in this car. A T Bird engine and transmission would certainly make it more fun to drive on the highway and would be an easy swap since the 292 or 312 engines were offered in this model from the factory. I will leave that to the new owner to decide. The car has a clear California title. Mileage: 15729 (actual mileage unknown) The reserve is about half the NADA low book value.
