Well, this will be the last time that i am going to list my very rare 1979 GMC Sierra Grande 4x4 Short Box Step Side Street Coupe Edition pick up truck. If it does not sell this time it is going to the back of my garage to be stored for the winter. It is one of 1,650 4x4 Street Coupe Edition trucks made in 1979. This is one of the Street Coupes built in Canada for the U.S. And from all my research and by what others have told me only 182 were built in Canada in 1979. It has the Canadian Maple leaf on all of the wire loom part # wraps and also on the build sheet in the glove box.That makes this even more rare if only 1,650 total were buit including the Canadian trucks. Just think of those 182 how many of them are are still around ...and in this condition! 350 4 bolt main 4 brl engine turbo 350 trans. The engine trans.and the front and rear axles are all original #s matching to the truck! the truck runs and drives great. 4 wheel drive works like new. I would not be afraid to drive it any distance. The paint is 90% original with only the hood that has been repainted. no rust. the paint shows wear and stone chips, but I would say it is still in good shape for being 31 years old and having over 100,000 miles on it! It is originally from Newport News , VA. where it spent most of its life in a dry climate controlled garage. It was VA. state inspected every year until I purchased it from my brother in law (2008) The only thing that does not work is the air conditioning,that worked until this year when the clutch assembly broke (parts are available at local parts stores) After I bought it I replaced external engine gaskets as the originals were dried and leaking from lack of use. at that time I replaced the oil pump with a high volume pump, installed a new double roller timing chain and gears,water pump,trans. filter and fluid change, also a tune up ( cap, rotor, plugs, air filter,etc.) and painted the engine the correct GMC blue. I replaced the tires 31x10.50 ( correct size), Installed a new aluminum radiator, new 2 1/2" duel exhaust, new door panels, dash cover, and a couple of new u-joints. all new parts have less than 2,000 miles on them. I still have the original radiator,exhaust heat shields, spare tire carrier (mounts under Box),oil pump,timing set, and interior parts.The dash has not been cut up or altered, still has the original am/fm radio that works fine. The glove box door still has the original build sheet on it that shows the options including the Street Coupe option. this truck overall is what I think to be in great shape for how original it is . I have not seen a 4x4 Street Coupe anywhere in my area or for that matter even on E-Bay in this shape! Original! Please ask any questions, as I will be glad to answer them.
