Vehicle Detail

DETROIT BROTHERS SHOP TRUCK. Up for NO RESERVE auction is my 1948 Ford Rat Rod truck. This truck is my daily driver. My company Detroit Brothers, is in the process of opening a west coast shop, in Ventura, CA. I use this truck, to haul my motorcycle up and down the coast of California. This truck looks great with a motorcycle strapped on the bed, going 70 down the freeway. This truck is also my surf truck. Surfboard is included if you "BUY IT NOW", other wise surfboard is not included. Surf board mounts are easily removable. This truck is really, really reliable. I would not hesitate to drive this truck across the country tomorrow. The motor rebuild cost over $3000. I started with a 1986 Corvette motor, and had it professionally rebuilt. It runs perfect. I carefully broke it in. I have changed the oil in it 5 times within the last 6,000 miles. The trans is a Muncie 4 speed, and is also in excellent condition. I put a gm rear end in it, for the strength and the disk brakes. The gear ratio is high so I can save money on gas, and tickets. I built an aluminum 15 gallon gas tank, and mounted it between the rear wheels. This opened up the room behind the seats for storage. The wheels are original Ansen 15x8.5 slotted mags. The rears were spliced and balanced, which gets rid of the "sunken wheel" look, that you normally see on tubbed rods. The other advantage to this, is the ease of mounting a bed. Mounting a stock bed will only need minimal fabrication, if you choose to go that route. I am also including 3 more of the original slotted mags, in case you dont like the big tire look. , you will notice I added the bright yellow ladder bars, to keep that axle in place. From the headers back, I ran dual stainless exhaust 3" with side by side mufflers. The front end, is still the stock straight axle, but it was rebuilt 3 years ago. I also put disk brakes up front. I insulated the entire cab, except the floor. The ceiling and back wall, have 2 layers of insulation. I also insulated the insides of the doors. I installed all new door window rubbers, as well as the vent window rubbers. Both doors have new glass (both door glass, and vent glass) I also, put in a new window mechanism in the passenger side. I have the driver side window mechanism, just didnt have time to install. Front windshield, and rear glass, come with the purchase of this truck. The seats are regular Auto zone hot rod seats. I put in a new aluminum radiator, with fan ($600), last year. This baby runs cool and strong. This truck is amazing. I have put well over $13,000 into it, not to mention all of the fabrication time. If you are interested, you could fly in, and drive this home. It runs that strong. This truck has been in California its whole life, and has a clear title. Things that are not perfect: One of the front tires should be replaced. The dash, and interior needs some work. The front frame horn (does not affect steering) is bent up a little from a fender bender a long time ago. Its an old truck, so there are a few little cancer spots on the front fenders. These can be easily patched, or left alone for character. I am also throwing in a bunch of extra parts.-Complete front end clip from 1979 Camaro. Excellent condition, sandblasted, power steering (in front of x-member), 11 inch rotors. ready to install-1948 flat bed (shorty) running boards. Sand blasted-New rear glass rubber-New front and rear glass-Extra set of vent window rubbers-New driver side window crank mechanism-New hood/cowl gasket-Extra hood hinges-set of hood spring mechanisms-Extra 1948 dash-Rear bumper brackets-2 sets of visors, one set handmade by me with internal electric light mirrors-Extra ash tray-Extra hood trim pieces-extra grill in excellent shape-extra set of headlights-extra hood parts, latch assemblies-Original heater box-3 extra POLISHED Ansen 8.5 x15 slotted wheels with the original Ansen washers. Please ask any question you might have about this truck. Also, if you want more photos send me your email, and I will send them ASAP. Call me if you want to talk to me 805-456-9800 James I will need an immediate paypal deposit of $1000 from the winning bidder. If you want this truck shipped, you will have to take care of all shipping arrangements, but I will help meet the driver and load the truck. Local pick up is even better. If you would like to see the truck, its located in Ventura, CA. call me for an appointment. On Oct-13-10 at 22:32:04 PDT, seller added the following information: MUST READ, MUST READ, MUST READ, before you bid. I drove the truck tonight, and saw that the mileage was higher than I stated. I looks like Ive been driving it more than I thought. The current mileage is 7300. I apologize for the mistake. I could have sworn it said 5700 last time I looked. Thank you for understanding.
