This is a 1986 Trooper II for a parts car. It had a recent turbo failure - I pulled the turbo and cylinder head to see if it was ok or not - the cylinder looks good. The pistons look good from the top. I am not sure if the engine needs work after that but I don’t want to put anything else into it. This was my main vehicle for daily use and off-road driving and it would be a good project or excellent for parts. It had an engine rebuild two years ago by Jerry’s Custom Engine in Missoula, MT. At that time it had brand new Isuzu 1 mm over pistons, camshaft, oil pump, bushings, bearings, and a rebuilt cylinder head replaced. The injector pump was calibrated and the injectors were rebuilt. The rods and crank were checked and were ok. It also got a new water pump, rebuilt alternator and starter, new clutch, new brake master cylinder and the flywheel was resurfaced. The transmission and 4wheel drive are in good working order. I got rid of the automatic hubs and installed Warn manual locking hubs. I also put in a new windshield and gasket – all windows fine. Tires and spare tire are in good shape. The glow plug controller was broken so push button glow plugs were installed. The odometer shows 138,000 but it looks like it has been replaced - unsure of original miles. I bought this Trooper from a friend in Missoula, MT who was moving out of state. The body and interior is in fair shape for its age. There is very little rust – some on the right rear quarter panel. Leave a message if you have more questions or want to look at it in person.
