Vehicle Detail
Note: This car "sold" in a recent auction with 10 bids, but the top bidder never funded the purchase so we've re-listed. That bidder had no questions about the car and never saw it, but seems to have gotten cold feet. So, here goes again: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This 1983 (Grand) Wagoneer Limited was recently acquired as part of a land re-purchase. It had been bought new by an eye surgeon to ferry guests to and from his central Colorado recreational ranch. Having sold him that land in 1983, we know the car was kept garaged for most of its life, which explains its original, excellent condition. Its premium JVC sound system was dealer-installed. The powerful Ramsey winch is housed in protective steel plates. Fully loaded, it has low and high range part-time 4-wheel drive. Options also include the towing package and the engine block heater. 1983 was the last year of this top-of-the-line Limited model, replaced in 1984 by the Grand Wagoneer, and thus may have additional collectible value. A step above the luxurious Brougham model, the Limited includes as standard equipment Quadra-Trac 4-Wheel Drive, automatic transmission, air conditioning, tinted glass, power windows and door locks, cruise control, extra quiet insulation, driver and passenger bucket seats with center armrest, upgraded door panels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and extra thick carpeting. Like the Brougham, the Limited has an upgraded interior trim that includes wood grain for the instrument cluster and horn cover, floor mats, a power tailgate window, and Convenience and Light Packages. Their exterior includes a thin side body scuff molding with a narrow wood grain insert, roof rack, bright door and quarter-window frames, and a lower tailgate molding. A dash-mounted control allows the driver to change between 2- and 4-wheel drive, with a floor-mounted lever to shift between high and low-range 4-wheel drive. This car is in excellent condition, but is missing a rear ashtray cover. The cargo area carpet was torn and has been replaced, but if you plan to restore it you will want to more carefully install carpet that better matches the original carpet in the passenger area. The tires aren't new, but have useful tread life left. There are small dings and scratches, such as in the bodyside molding and left lower dash (see photos), as well as scratches around the cargo area, but no visible rust. The original floor mats are in very good condition. We had the car inspected by Grafton Singer, owner of local Mark's Automotive, who found it free of problems. He and top assistant Daniel Davenport are happy to answer questions about the car. Its power locks and windows work well, as does the powerful air conditioner. It's an unusually handsome Wagoneer and draws smiles of approval in our hometown of Crested Butte, Colorado. We are also listing the car locally and reserve the right to end the auction early.
