Sorry everyone, I had to re-list this Comet as Ebay cancelled my listing due to a violation in my listing, but here it is again. I have up for a auction is a very nice 1972 Mercury Comet with the factory 302 V-8 option with a C-4 automatic transmission. I bought this Comet with 29,000 original miles on it an I am the third owner. I bought this Comet from an owner that bought it from an estate sale as the original owners are now deceased. This Comet sat most of it's life and only averaged 769 miles a year! The DSO on this car was Chicago and was sent up to Waukesha Lincoln Mercury here in Wisconsin and were it spent all of it's life. Now this Comet does have your typical rust issues being it's from Wisconsin, the bottom of the rear quarters are rusted through and will need to be repaired. As far as the floorpans and the rest of the under carriage? Solid yet with no holes, vent hats in the cowl area are good with no water getting into the car, this car still seals up very nice! I got caught in a torrential down pour with this Comet and NO Leaks! Windlace, felt strips and ALL rubber seals are amazingly in great shape and I treated them with a nice coating of silicone. Windows roll up and down nicely, all the interior is in original shape and in nice condition, glass is good. One small crack in the dash pad face, and one small NEW tear in the seat from one steak knife left in my back pocket as of today, DAMN! Lol! This Comet runs and drives great, comes with new dual exhaust and flowmaster style mufflers, and I just added disc brakes from a 1975 Ford Maverick with proportioning valve and New master cylinder, brake hoses, calipers, pads(Semi-Metallic) stops very well! The trim is in outstanding condition and the paint looks pretty darn good for it's age. The Comet comes with a strong Interstate battery and New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points. I also installed a New Idler arm and new Idler arm bushing in the center link along with New front shocks (Monroe) when I did the disc brake conversion. The Comet comes with new tires and GT Mach 1 Steel Styled wheels with center caps and trim rings. I had to take off the GT wheels as the hub diameter is different now with the larger disc brake rotors and had to opt for 14x6 plain steel wheels off of a Granada. I will also be treating the rusted undercarriage with RUST-MORT to convert the rust to a harden primer and may undercoat it yet before the end of the listing. This Comet is still in it's original condition and I do have the original wheel covers and steering wheel for it, comes with an extra front bumper and filler panel. Car has some body damage from the previous owners son and will need some attention as the grill is broke to. This Comet would make for a great street rod project or a GT clone or leave it original!
