Vehicle Detail
This MkI Scirocco is being sold as is, where it is. If you need to have it transported, I will make sure I'm home to help get it loaded on the trailer safely. I stopped driving this car when I started getting some oil out of the breather and I was losing power. I tested compression and found that cylinder 3 was off by 20 or so from the others. At that time I decided to pull the head/pistons/pan and figured I would pull the rest of the motor over the course of the summer. Suffice to say, life didn't really cooperate and my little MkI has been sitting covered for the last several months. I last ran it back in early Spring before I began pulling the motor. As it sits, head is off, pistons are out, pan is on the car and the cylinders are protected from moisture. Everything works... tranny shifts great, brakes are awesome, super stiff and low... a very fun, tossable car with an angry engine note, and a seat of your pants sensation that you can't emulate with a more modern car. This is a mildly built motor with twin Mikuni carbs installed. Techtonics exhaust. Strut brace, discs all around. Motor specs are: Block- 1.7 liter H block modified for crank Rods- stock Crank- 90.5 Techtonics stroker Pistons- 83mm techtonics cast, 9.2:1 compression Head- 1.6L solid lifter I have taken a ton of pictures as I want this auction to be crystal clear. This won't take much to get back on the road, but it's going to be a project. At minimum a cylinder hone and rings. There is no known damage beyond the loss of compression of the 3rd cylinder. I'm not sure how many miles the car has. The odo displays 180,000+... not sure how long it's been since this motor was built. There is rust on the car as you'll see in the pictures. I've tried to document this as best as I could. If I were to buy this car, I'd get it running, drive the piss out of it for a while, then consider the body work or swapping it all over to a cleaner shell. I'm not putting all of the pictures here on ebay, but you can check out the full gallery here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39975320@N00/sets/72157624906208795/with/5022731745/ This car has some wonderful custom touches to it like the airbox surround for the carbs, the throttle linkage and more. The interior is in great shape, I'm including a box of spares including a ton of carb stuff... The wheels are also amazing and will clean up beautifully. If you need anything, or have questions, send me a message with your phone # and I will call you and try to answer ?s to the best of my ability
