Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1971 Dodge Charger 500. Vin # WP23G1E132926. This car came from Oregon, and I was told that it had sat in storage for 17 years. That is why the mileage is so low. The mileage on this car shows 57,553 and that is almost accurate. About 1000 miles ago the speedometer cable broke or came loose. I bought this car 11/8/2005 with the intention of dropping a big block in it. When we got it home and pulled the engine and tranny out it was found to have the original numbers matching running gear (engine and transmission). Then I decided we would just rebuild the originals. The car had a 2 barrel carb and single exhaust (stock) when I got it. I changed the intake and put on a Holley 650 4 barrel and ran dual exhaust. All of this was done at the same time I had the engine and transmission rebuilt professionaly. The engine was built and balanced by Durbins, a well know local builder/machine shop. This car runs, drives, and stops great. I also had it changed over to electronic ignition. I had headers installed. I had 390 gears put in the rear end, and of course all of the belts and hoses were replace as well. I left the original am radio in dash and just mounted a Panasonic stereo in the floor and Sony explodes in the back for some tunes to cruise by. I put a brand new set of BF Goodrich TA radials and Pacer 5 spoke chrome rims on it, one picture shows how few miles the tires have on them and how much tread is left. I installed a Hurst type slap stick shifter in it from Paddock. I installed charger floor mats and put a trunk mat in it as well. Every time I added a new part, I kept the original part as well. I also still have the boxes many parts came in as well as the receipts. All of that stuff will go with the car as well. I have a photo album showing all of the steps the car went through as the running gear was being repaired. That also is yours. The car dose not have any major body damage. It had a bad paint job when I got it and it is worse now. The paint is peeling of in several places where the paint blisterd up. I have hardly driven this car in the past few years. I normally just go out there and run it to town to keep things lubed up. It has sat out under my shed therfore the rims have started getting a little rust on them. The car has good glass all the way around it and no cracks in the windshield and decent interior overall. The carpet is not ripped, just faded and not tucked tight in some places, I'd put a carpet kit in it for sure. The dash had a pad on it when I got it and it is still in tack. The headliner and seats are in good shape with no rips. The emblems are off of the door panels but I have them and they will be included. Some of the knobs are off as you can see in one picture. I have the original hub caps as well. There is two boxs full of original parts, as well as new un opened parts. There is a picture showing a lot of new unopened red engine dress up material, flexable hose covers, wire ties and red electrical tape. There are four books that I am including, Haynes repair manual, operators manual, Chrysler code book, and a wiring diagram. I took several pictures of the car so you can see it is not fully restored. It still needs someone to complete the project that I have lost interest in. I do not have the time or money to go on so I am cutting my losses and listing it WAY below the amout of money I have invested. I have a ton of receipts documenting everything I have told you. I have been selling everything under the sun on Ebay for 10 years. I have a rating of 502 with perfect positive feedback. In other words you know who you are dealing with. I have this car insured for $15,000. I paid $5800 for it in 05 and then did all of this work. The original b.o.s. is included in the album. There is no doubt I have at least $18,000 invested. I am going to start the bidding at less than 1/2 of that......... $6900 and no reserve. Someone is going to get a great deal. I have this car listed locally too so if it sells locally I reserve the right to end the auction early. I expect a $1000 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction via PayPal. The rest of the money can be paid when you pick the car up via a cashiers check or cash. It runs good, but if you are going very far I imagine you would trailer if with 390 gears.
