1978 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW II - EXCELLENT CONDITION AND LOW MILES: I AM OFFERING MY 1978 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW II SEDAN FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. THE CAR HAS COVERED AN AVERAGE OF LESS THAN 3,000 MILES PER YEAR OVER THE LAST THIRTY-TWO YEARS, FOR A TOTAL OF 91,000 MILES. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAR WAS ORIGINALLY DELIVERED TO ITS FIRST OWNER IN PARIS, FRANCE, SO THE SPEEDOMETER IS IN KILOMETERS, SHOWING 154,231 KILOMETERS WHICH CONVERTS TO 91,000 MILES. THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST SHADOW IIs YOU WILL FIND. IT IS A RELIABLE DRIVING VEHICLE THAT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. This Silver Shadow sedan is excellent overall. The car is runs very well, with a smooth transmission and plenty of power. The car has a recent (June, 2011) Pennsylvania state inspection sticker on it. Brakes and suspension are fine. The interior is next to perfect. The Connolly dove gray leather is perfect with no tears anywhere. It is supple and very comfortable. All seat cushions and springs are as new and are the height of comfort. The car is fitted with its original near perfect Wilton Wool carpeting (original lambskin carpet overlays will also convey with the car). The burled walnut wood trim is excellent throughout the car but for a small chip in the varnish next to the radio. Being a French delivery vehicle, the car has some accessories not found on U.S. delivery Silver Shadows, including a foot operated French traffic horn (in addition to the standard horn), front and rear foglights and front under bumper panel. The original Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio remains in the car but does not function. To correct for this, I have had a Becker AM/FM CD unit placed in the central dash console as a custom built-in. The Becker unit is code controlled. A complete owner's manual packet will come with the car. From a mechanical standpoint, the car has excellent oil pressure and excellent power. Importantly, the hydraulic suspension and braking systems operate without any faults. Unlike many older Shadows, the brake pressure lights in the dash extinguish themselves immediately after the engine is started. This is a good sign when looking at any Shadow. AC is ice cold and the entire climate control system operates as intended. The power windows and power seats work, as does the central locking. There is a minor power steering fluid leak. In terms of the body, the paint is in very nice condition with high lustre. There are some minor flaws in the paint in the form of minor chips that would be expected on any used car. There is a very small dent on the front point of the right fender. Tires have about 90% of their tread. The car tracks straight and true down the road with no vibrations or pulling at all. If you are looking for a reliable Silver Shadow to drive on a frequent basis or just on special occasions, you should definitely consider my car. I have owned seven Rolls-Royces over the years and this car is the most reliable one I have owned.
