Yes, you read write - Sold to the Highest Bidder. . . ---------- History ---------- 11/23/70 -Sold new at Plitt Ford Mercury INC in E. Hampton, NY. The original owner's name was David Fenelon and he lived in Sag Harbor, NY. 4/90 - David Fenelon had Rit Lyn Motors LTD in Bridgehampton,NY sell his Tornio under a consignement. In other word's, they would help and found him a buyer for his rare convertible. 6/ 18/ 90 - Rit Lyn Motors did end up finding David a buyer. The original owner did sell this Tornio to Ernest M. Vandeweghe III, well known as the celebrity & classic car collector - KIKI Vandeweghe. As of that time , the Ford had a odometer diclosure statment reading 125,832 actual miles. 2/ 12/ 92 - KIKI Vandeweghe had this car sent to his home in Beverly Hills, California 90210. Using DAS shipping, it was sent to the Golden State. He kept the car as apart of his collection & his driver. 1 / 94 - Vandeweghe end up selling it to the third owner. Now, the car has went thru 3 registered owner's. 9 / 16/ 10 - Up for Auction for the very first time on Ebay - Sold to the Highest bidder. You have a rare chance to own a Rare car without a Reserve. ---------- The Breakdown of the Car ----- 1H37C138108 ----- A total of 30 Big Block 429 Tornio GT Convertibles were produced in 1971. Approximately 5 are known to existence. This is a 1971 Ford Tornio GT Convertible True " C " Code 429 Cobra Jet. A factory Grabber Yellow with a Black vinyl bench, White Power Top w/ rare Glass Backlite. Option's included C-6 Automatic, Traction-Lok Differential, power steering, power front Disc brake's, am radio & tachometer. This 1971 is one out of 1,614 Tornio GT Convertibles Of them, 30 came with the 429 4-V Cobra Jet Non Ram Air engine's ( C Code ) and 19 of those were Automatic Transmission's. Of these, 3 were only painted Grabber Yellow and One of them having a Black vinyl bench. Making this a rare 1 out of 1 Torino. All information has been documented thru MartiAtoWorks. A Deluxe report & production statics report have been done on this car. I have the paperwork from where the original owner sold it to Kiki Vandeweghe and a few receipts. I have a Good Luck with the Torino Letter, written from Kiki & his wife Pegg to the third letter. ---------- The Condtion ---------- Since 1992, it has spent it's life in Los Angeles, California. The undercarriage still remain's the original floorpan's & trunk comparment. It has had one older repaint - Ford Grabber Yellow. Since it is a older paint job, it does have flaw's as chip's, bubble's & minor crack's. Look's like it had a lower quarther patch on the passenger side when repainted. It does shine and is driver quailty. The grill is in great shape as well as rear tailight panel molding. Remain's the original GT badge's, molding's and embelm's. The top was replaced once but does have the original Glass Backlite rear window. The power top goes up / down but slowly. The top show's normal wear & tear/torns for a older top. The interior remain's all original & complete. It's in good shape for being that. Door panel's, dash pad & gauge's are still in place. The interior never been modifed or teared apart. Overall, It is in driver condition and pretty much complete. Can be driven around the way it is or can be ready for CJ restoration. Alot of head turning when beening driven. Please keep in mind, it is not restored or show quailty. ---------- The Drivetrain ---------- The third owner was getting ready to rebuilt the original Matching #'s 429 CJ. He took it out of this car and added a built 460 V8 2 bolt main. He hooked it up to the original C-6 and drove it around as his driver. Never to get around to rebuilting the original 429CJ as it sit's on a stand as we speak. The correct C-6 transmission & 3.25 Traction-lok Axle ratio rear end are still in place. The Original 429 is missing piston's, gasket's, camshaft kit, etc. I have listed part's below that are attach to the engine. The 460 that is it in now can move quickly, fast. Sound's mean with dual DynoMax exhaust. Has a Holley 650 Doublepump carb with a Edelbrock intake.
