Vehicle Detail
1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible, numbers matching 312/215HP V8 with 3-speed manual on the floor and continental kit. Very rare combination. Solid body, runs and drives. Great candidate for restoration. Includes soft-top only, did not come from factory with a hard top. Original Paint Code X (Navajo Grey) which is extremely rare. Repainted to Goldenrod yellow in the 1970's and black seat slipcover and door panels installed. Looks like some body work was done then also. Also included are all 4 original wheel covers and original steering wheel with center chrome trim (in great condition), new continental kit release lever and two new period correct seat belts. Current gas tank has a broken connection where the fuel line goes in so a brand new gas tank is also included with the car. Currently registered in Illinois and has a clear title. Also registered in the national Thunderbird registry. Low reserve. On Sep-17-10 at 10:03:49 PDT, seller added the following information:I have uploaded a few more pictures of the doors, floor, trunk floor and convertible soft-top. I do not have access to a lift but have been underneath the car and everything appears solid. I pulled up the carpet on the passenger side and there are no holes in the floors, trunk or frame. Also included is a photo of behind the seat area and it is solid. The convertible soft-top goes up and down and latches. It stows when not in use behind the seat. Overall it is in decent shape but does have a dime/quarter sized hole on drivers side. Looks like it may have gotten caught while opening sometime in the past. The dash pad is also is in decent shape except for one some crack in the center above the Thunderbird emblem. This is a running driving restoration/project car and I appreciate the fact that it will need work to bring it back to its former glory, hence the low pricing. As such it is being sold as-is. I encourage all bidders to view the car view first if possible, or contact me for a phone number. I have spoken to a few on the phone and hopefully answered all of their questions. I do not need to sell the car but have offered it so that someone else may appreciate it sooner than I would as I have a couple of projects ahead of this one. It is fun to drive and gets comments, smiles and thumbs-up EVERY time I drive it.
