I bought this car from the original owner who bought the car brand new from Schoenfeld VW in Marietta georgia in 1974. I have the original 1974 Georgia title and dealer sales order.. Perfect car for a do it yourselfer. It will need a lot of simple work. It was mostly towed behind a motor home and has 24,000 miles on the odometer - I do not know if that is the original mileage or not. It has sat unattended for at least 15 years so i decided to fix it up a bit to get it running and useable. I got as far as you see it now. The positives and negatives are listed below: Positives: 1.Genuine Acapulco edition. 2. Includes hardtop, Acapulco soft top and original acapulco frame - Brand new (the thing shop) striped blue/white soft top installed yesterday . 3.Original striped seat front and back .4) It fires right up and Runs and drives with no mechanical issues ..the engine purr like a kitten the 4 speed manual shifter shift good ebut the second gear slips,the clutch is good . .5.New Empi dual tip exhaust. 6 .Includes original spare tire/wheel. 7. Original jack and a couple of tools. 8. No accidents ever. 9. Sills are solid. 10. All captive nuts holding running boards, fenders, etc are good. None are rotted out and unuseable. 11. Doors and panels are solid. 12. Considering that it is a 36 year old special edition model it is in quite good condition overall and anything this car needs can be done easily by any do it yourselfer. Brand new windshield ( available but not installed ) Brand new whole floor boards installed and rhino treated. .All brakes lines,shoes reservoir,hoses,cylinders are brand newNegatives: 1. No No side curtains.. 2. Some isolated places have surface pitting in the metal which have been painted over to eliminate any further pitting. 3. Needs painting.You drive this baby while restoring it. Over all it is original and umolested., with few weekends of easy work ..this car will be show and very collectible car..there are not many of them out there please check this item # that is on the auction block on ebay today and you can have an idea .
