Vehicle Detail
First, Yes this Honda Trail 70 Has A Clean Illinois Title in Hand!!!!!!!!!! I will ship at buyers expense via an ebay bike ship company. You must make the arrangements with the shipper through the ebay counsel after winning. Use it for a quote or idea during the auction if you like, but I would call and speak with an agent as well to confirm their quote. I have shipped bikes for people before with other bikes and it is not a problem. Ok here she is after hundreds of hours building. Bike has only 112 miles on it ridden since rebuild to test it out, has new everything and the best of the best on it. It may have a couple more miles on it by auction end to get some wind in my hair. Original Paint, Original Stickers, not a repaint or touchup job here. This project started with just a frame and swingarm. I did put a coat of wax on it to protect it during the build when I picked it up. After the build I wiped the wax down but never detailed it, she could be washed, waxed, & detailed and look alot nicer. It has never been put down, dropped, or rode in the rain in my period of ownership. It has never been washed by me or prettied up for the pictures. Infact, it probably has more dust on it than dirt! Some of the picures of the engine might look like it has been down, but they are just spots and dirt, not scratches or nicks. The frame is really clean or I would not have built this project on it and jumped through a million hoops to get it titled. It has a couple of minor scratches here or there, but they just add to the character of the bike. Bike has zero cancer on it. Tops out at around 50mph according to the speedo on it, but I have the largest Michelin Bopper tires on it you can squeeze on it, so it probably goes faster but the tires being larger probably does not spin the speedo drive fully accuratly. I can run it next to a car to see what the true top speed is if it is asked for by a real bidder. Otherwise it still has the original 36tooth rear sprocket on it, I upped the front sprocket to a 15tooth from the stock 14tooth. I only did this +1 bump b/c it came with a 428 chain sprocket on it and I had to custom order a 420 chain sprocket for the engine. If someone was serious about making it a 70mph bike or something crazy, you could go up to a 17tooth front sprocket and a 31tooth rear for cheap and gain 35%-45% more top end which I estimate to be at least 67mph. Go a step further if you want and throw a CDI with no rev limiter in it and who knows. I know the Lifan motor's rev limit to like 7,000 and the stock motor revs to like 9,000. With no rev limiter I have been told they will rip to 11,000 no problem. Future buyer could also throw on a head breather to rev it out quicker. So for like, $50 you could really make it rip, but I never wanted to mess with the reliability or my hard labor and money on this and push it to the limit. It is plenty fast as is, I have pulled a couple of wheelies on it without intention and I can pull most any car from a stop or catch any car in front of me so why ruin a good thing. I figure less mods are less things to break or go wrong. This motor puts out about 11hp with the stock carb if I remember correctly, which is plenty imo. This project restoration build was built as a full 12 volt bike with all new wiring, proper 12 volt battery tray, and all gauges, and hand controls function as they should. It is also electric start, top mount version, safer in my opinion for ground clearance. Also, has all new bars, new hyraulic forks properly filled and measured at 100cc each side. Has a billet alluminum top tree, and billet headlight holders. Not that flimsy China crap, the billet parts on it are made in USA, at least we still have a piece of that market! Also has a new polished alluminum front split rim, on a new disc brake hub which is also brand new. I put a 360 degree carb mount/heat soak preventer on it to clear the starter because it has a bigger carb on it than what the motor came with. The stock carb was a joke and wouldn't draw fuel so we threw it in the gutter and got another. The rear rim is solid alluminum with polished lip not the 3 piece design. The rear shocks are fully adjustable Stage 3 coilovers from Trail Buddy with remote resevoirs and work awesome. No matter how much you weight these can be quickly turned to suit you, or two riders. You will not bottom them out! The tires are Michelin Boppers in 120-90-10. I tried to mount 130-90-10's and they didn't fit so another grip of $$ down the drain as Nielson Enterprises had to dismount/remount the tires and I am still sitting on the original 130's. The large sized tires are perfect and make this bike super stable in any condition! As you can see they still have the nubby nipples on them in the pictures. You will not feel vulnerable on this bike at all at top speeds. Here's another reason it is so stable, it also has new type "all balls" sealed neck bearings in it instead of the old style loose ball bearings! It has a high quality chain on it as well, but I can not remember the name of the chain maker, d.i.d. I think? Like I said I did not spare a dime on this experiment! Other things to mention, um, I have the side mount front fender but I could not fit it on the fork mounts b/c the tire is so huge. I have another top mount fender for the winner should you want it, I have not mocked it up on the upper mounts and drilled it to fit is all. I also have the rear luggage rack for it if you want it. The bike has the custom wide foot pegs with kick stand and center stand to fit around the 125cc, the stock foot peg set up won't work. The seat is new, the headlight is new, heck everything is new except the frame, swingarm, fuel cell, front curb protector, and foot break assembly. The wiring is right after hours of studying, testing, troubleshooting, undoing, redoing, ordering schematics from everyone. There is so much wiring on the 12volt version that it is a real pain to loom, and thread it all in, but it is done. The bike gets a ton of attention, I have people on other bikes waive me down or follow me to the gas station to talk about it. If you are in a hurry do not go to get gasoline! People all love to talk about the old days and offer to buy it from me on-site. Every part on her is new, most parts on it came from Trail Buddy out of Michigan. Here are some highlights, all parts brand new: This bike started out as just a 1970 frame and swingarm in Candy Gold most all parts are new!!! New 125cc CDI Lifan with 4 Speed with clutch (1down 3up configuration tranny) Electric Starter New battery, not a cheap one Upgraded carb Aftermarket carb mount New D.I.D. 420 gold chain Upsize +1 tooth front sprocket New exhaust Solid rear alluminum rim Split alluminum polished front rim Huge Michelin Bopper tires Hydraulic front forks drained, and filled to factory specs (100cc or 110cc if I recall correctly) by myself not a Chinese kid! Stage 3 Coil Over Adjustable Remote Resevoir Rear Shocks Front Disk Brake New rear pads New Seat Upgraded foot pegs and kick stand assembly All new wiring and electrical components (12v) New headlight, turn signals, brake light/tail light Clean IL title in hand, I register it with antique vanity plates. It is registered as a 70cc too! Horn works, lights work (hi & lo + has a switch for off, park, on very unique), brake lights work, turn signals work. It all works! Only thing to get picky about is the front little donut on the handle tripple tree nut is cracked. This is minor and I checked with BikeBandit dot com and it is only like $17 to replace if you should wish. If any hardcore Honda fans out there are interested in this but prefer factory parts, check my other auctions I have another frame, stock engine, seat, exhaust, rims, tires, factory boxed parts, factory enamel paint. Bike is being listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. For sale as seen and as is. Locals welcome to view it prior to auction end in person, I will not accept any offers outside of this auction via ebay, and will not disclose the reserve in fairness to all bidders. If you want to ride it I will have to have the money in my hand while you do so. Thanks. Any questions shoot me an email. If I think of anything I forgot I will update the auction. Thanks for looking. **Update: I picked up a replacement donut for the triple tree base and will have it mounted and supply a picture of it updated shortly.**
