Selling my FJ40. Needs a lot of work! Runs well, I drive it every week, but tub is rotted. Please look at pictures to get an idea of rust issues on tub. Here is what's good. Runs well. Recently (within last two years) replaced clutch cylinder, battery, starter, tuned up, head rebuilt, rear main seal replaced, and usual maintenance (oil changes). Has most original parts including hardtop, ambulance doors, and extra bimini tops and a full soft top. The seats are in very good condition with the exception of the drivers seat-bottom cushion needs replacing. The vehicle has a mild lift, about 1.5 in with Goodyear mud tires and Cragar wheels on it. All electrics work including back up lights. Has a Warn winch that was dealer installed (electric) and a bruch guard. The drive line is in good working order. 4 wheel drive works well, shifts good, and stops like it should. The front and rear heaters work well. All original mats are included. Also has an am/fm cd/ipod stereo. Now the not-so-good. Rust. The tub has holes in the back half in the wheel wells, lower back corners, one in the floor board below the driver (about 4"x1"), where the wheel well joins the rear quarter panel, along the very front edge of the hood (about 8"x1/2"), and in one running board (about the size of a quarter). One of the ambulance doors has rot in the bottom of it. There is surface rust along the bottom of the front doors and the other ambulance door. The tub will need a new (or repaired) rear sill. The amp guage and odometer do not work. I do not know the exact mileage of the truck. Lastly, at some point in it's long life this truck was called salvage, according to a VIN check. The VIN for this truck is JT3FJ40C0C3354178. I bought the truck about a year ago from a friend of mine who owned it about 5 years, he had a clean title to it. The title I have, issued by the State of Tennessee, shows a clean title. I've looked to signs of body/frame repair and can't find any, so my supposition is that the truck was either reported stolen or had flood damage back in the late 1980's/early 1990's. Please, however, be aware of what I am offering for sale. If you are wanting a truck to turn into a trail rig that has a solid drive line, or a massive restoration project on a rare FJ40 year (only 3700 FJ40's were sold in the US in 1982), this truck is available at a starting price that makes your project affordable.
