Vehicle Detail
Number's Matching 1968 Olds 442 - 5 Day Auction - Sold To The Highest Bidder This is a number's matching 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe. Option's include the original Olds 400 / Automatic, Air Conditon, Disc Brakes, Power Steering and Am/Fm radio. Spent most of it's life in Los Angeles, California - making it a great example of a California 442. It was well taken care of it's entire life. I have a stack of receipts dating back to the early 80's of normal wear service. I, also have a journal from the original owner dating back to 1977 of oil changes, compression test's and so on. It was registered in the " Oldsmobile Club of Southern California" as well. It has been repainted once it's original color Provincial White with the Factory Black vinyl top. Was repainted in August of 1987 and you can still see the original paint here & there. I do have the original receipt of the job they did from the paint shop. The body is pretty straight with a few dings. Very Complete with all of it's original molding's and chrome. The only emblem that is missing off of it is the 442 grill emblem but I do have it, it's broken though. The undercarriage / frame structure is in beautiful shape and remain's solid. Original Quarther's and GM spatter trunk compartment. Still has the factory rubbermat but has some surface rust under there as well as minor on the trunk lid. Also, there is some rust under the vinyl top as you can see in the pictures ( not falling apart ). The interior remains all original including the dash compartment. Factory Am / FM radio still in place. I do have the original 442 steering wheel. Overall, interior is in great shape for being original. Now, has the matching number's Olds 400. Everything look's to be correct down to the Q-Jet carb. In 2007, the ring's were redone and it was taken apart to be cleaned up. Running & driving just fine. The owner told me that one of the lifter's will need to adjusted as it make's a tapping noise. Does not overheat or blow smoke. Was and can be driven on the freeway. Brakes fine and shift's fine into all gear's. It does have the stock mufflers /tips but the exhaust has been changed. Overall, it can be a driver for someone. The A/C is complete but has not been used for a few years. Radio does not work as well. Keep in mind, this 442 was a driver, never was sitting for a long period of time. Has all the recepits showing it was well taken care, bushing's - brakes - normal wear & tear. By no mean, it is not restored or a show car. The paint & interior is old and has flaws. Alot of extra parts will be included as a remote driver mirror, a complete whole dash with gauges, many books, A brand new camshaft. A whole trunk full of goodies. Photo's were taken less then a week ago. This is a great car to restore or can be driven around the way it is, It's complete and original.
