1987 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SDL TURBO DIESEL CAR - BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR: I AM OFFERING A 1987 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SDL TURBO DIESEL SEDAN FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. THE CAR HAS COVERED AN AVERAGE OF LESS THAN 8,200 MILES PER YEAR OVER THE LAST TWENTY-THREE YEARS, FOR A TOTAL OF 186,357 MILES. THIS IS A VERY HIGH DEMAND MODEL DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS ONLY PRODUCED FOR TWO YEARS AND IS VIEWED AS ONE OF THE BEST DIESEL VEHICLES MADE BY MERCEDES BY DIESEL FANATICS. This 300SDL sedan is overall a nice car, but is not without blemishes and a few issues. The short of it is that the car is an excellent runner, with a smooth transmission and plenty of power. The car has a recent (June, 2001) Pennsylvania state inspection sticker on it. Brakes and suspension are fine. The interior is next to perfect, with a couple of marks on the driver's carpet and a one half inch crack on the right side of the dash. The leather is perfect with no tears anywhere. It is supple and very comfortable. There is a minor wear spot on the top of the driver's door panel which is visible in the pictures. From a mechanical standpoint, while the car has excellent oil pressure (see picture with engine running at idle), it does smoke more than it should. I have been told that the injection timing needs to be adjusted or there is some oil seepage onto the manifold. At any rate, it does not have any effect on the car's performance and could be a simple fix. Other than that, the only issues are as follows: AC needs a charge, passenger power seat does not operate, and sunroof does not operate. The windows work, as does the original Becker radio. In terms of the body, the car has been repainted at some point in the past and the paint is only fair. There is some minor rust that can be seen the in the pictures at the front of each front fender and the rear of the rear fender as well as a couple of other minor spots. There is a dent on the right side of the car. This is by no means a perfect car, but it is a decent example that can be improved with a bit of TLC. Tires have about 75% of their tread. The car tracjs straight and true down the road with no vibrations or pulling at all. No suspension noises, etc. Keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. I encourage bidders to come and see the car if possible. You are welcome to have the car inspected at your expense prior to the conclusion of the auction. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what car you are looking at, it will have flaws. The balance must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction or upon pick-up of the car, whichever is earlier. The balance of the purchase price may NOT be made by Paypal.
