Vehicle Detail
1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Frame Off Restored I own a FJ40 restoration shop, I bought this FJ40 mid-restoration and finished it. The previous owner spent 38k on it when I got it. After 3 months of work in my shop, it is absolutely beautiful. This is one of the nicest FJ40’s out there, in the top 1%, has the desired components, a true collector vehicle built for function. This FJ40 is turn-key, needs nothing, ready to enjoy now. This truck is one of the best running/driving/handling land cruisers I’ve had, and I’ve owned 378 of them. This is the nicest FJ40 I’ve had for sale in 5 years. This truck is truly spectacular, this is a blue chip collector vehicle. I bought this with the hope of keeping it, but the mortgage man wants a huge down payment on the new house my wife and I are going to buy, so this, and my prized 67 Chevelle on another auction will be sold. Copy and paste the below Photobucket link for 113 pictures of this FJ40 during the build and as it sits today. You can also email me, I will send you the direct link. http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae11/fj40man79/1977%20Blue%20Restored%20FJ40/ Mechanical Fresh rebuilt original 2F motor with warranty. Motor is a stock rebuild with a slightly bumped up cam, stock rebuilt carburetor. Exhaust header added to free up flow, that is a big improvement over stock. Rebuilt original 4 speed transmission and transfer case. Stock rebuilt front and rear end with front disc brakes. The stock springs sag, so I replaced them with a new Rancho 2.5 in lift kit, so new springs, bushings, with Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and steering stabilizer. I found a 1982 FJ40 factory power steering, rebuilt the box and installed it in this truck. Much cleaner look than aftermarket stuff. I used a new GM power steering pump because it flows so much better than the Toyota unit, and it’s a 1 piece design. 1 finger turning in this truck. Every mechanical part is new or refurbished in this truck, it handles much better than it did from the factory. You can cruise the highway comfortably at 70, that is a bold statement for any FJ40. The tires are BFG all terrain 33/9.5/15 on stock wheels and caps. I bought the last sets of that tire size from BFG as they were discontinued a couple years ago. They work perfect on the stock wheels in these rigs. They make that size in 10.5 wide now, they work fine, but the 9.5 look better. Body This FJ40 is completely rust free. The truck is painted factory blue. The original paint jobs were a single stage, this paint is a base coat clear coat which will last much longer. Color sanded, looks great (as nice as any FJ40 should be if you drive it). The fiberglass roof lid is new, they are prone to cracking, so I spent the $1500 on a new one. The frame and underside are coated with gloss black POR-15. That is the best stuff available, a must for rust prevention and a must for east coast buyers. The floor of the tub is a color matched linex (paint wears off in a couple years) the linex in the high traffic area will last for many more years. The wheel wells and other are painted the same as the exterior. Tuffy center console with cup holders. New Warn 8274 winch 8000lb capacity, with Warn cover (not pictured). These cost $2200 shipped now, but are a must have for the FJ40. HFS winch plate. The stock radio is still there, and it works. Original owner’s manual, sales brochure with original salesman’s card, complete factory tool kit and jack. Here is another selling point! I will include the matching Match Box blue FJ40. I know..Awesome HUH! I’ve hit the main points of this vehicle. I could go on forever about it, if you have any questions please ask. I did not add A/C to this FJ40 as some people don’t want it. I can buy a new aftermarket kit and install it for $2800 if you are interested. This FJ falls in the top 1% of the world. When the economy was better I’d build 100k land cruisers for people, those days are gone. I only build them to this level when I get them half done and the previous owner runs out of money or ambition, otherwise there would be no way to sell a FJ40 like this at this price. This resto would cost 45-50k in my shop plus the cost of the vehicle. I can offer it much cheaper as I bought it after the PO spent a fortune on it, he took a huge loss, I spent 3 months finishing the build. I’ve sold several FJ40’s sight unseen on eBay in the past 5 years with perfect feedback. If you would like to hire and appraiser or come look at it yourself during the auction please do. I own Automotive Appraisals and Pre-Buy Inspections so skip me if you look in the phone book for an appraiser. Once you buy it through eBay you own it, not a chance to come look at it. I require a $1000 non-refundable deposit through paypal immediately after the auction is over. Rest due within 7 days. I have access to 25 shipping companies, I set up the shipping, you pay for it, easy deal. This type of FJ40 is an easy sale for me, don’t miss out hoping to get it cheaper later. FJ40’s this nice rarely pop up on eBay. After every nice FJ40 auction, I get 5-10 people willing to buy if the purchaser does not come through. I hold a clean clear WA state title in my name on this vehicle. This truck only has break in miles on it, but I would not hesitate to drive it long distance. No trades. And Thanks for Looking! I must be firm and request no local tire kickers, every FJ40 auction I get several. If you can’t afford one like this, I have cheaper units, but please don’t waste my time and pretend you have the money if you really don’t. Thanks. I have several cheaper FJ40’s in the works, but none are ready at this moment. Anyone interested in a package deal, this blue FJ40, and a blue 67 Chevelle I have personally spent $77,000 on? They would look good parked next to each other! I wanted to keep this FJ and the Chevelle I built, but wife wants new house, and with the mortgage requirements now for huge cash down, toys must go.
