Vehicle Detail

BEAUTIFUL BMW 330Ci FOR SALE BY OWNER The time has come for me to part with my beloved BMW. I got a job downtown Philly and I can't justify paying insurance/depreciation/etc. on a car that will just sit on the curb. The good news is that this is your opportunity to pick up a unique, wonderful all-around vehicle for a ridiculously low price. Here are the details: 2001 BMW 330Ci (base sticker in 2001: $34,990!) 225 horsepower, silky-smooth inline six-cylinder engine (with a sweet, flat torque curve) 5-speed manual transmission (no flappy-paddle slushbox here!) Sport Package (ZSP) , which includes: leather-wrapped steering wheel sport seats better bolstering and support adjustable thigh supports (awesome for tall folks and long trips) 17-inch ten-spoke Style 68 wheels, width 7.5" front, 8.5" rear Not shown in photos - those are my 7-spoke winter tires. Yes, I know it's August. I told you, I hardly get to drive this thing any more (also read below). The car will be sold with the proper, BMW style 68 rims. For an extra $200 over auction price I'll include the winter wheels in addition to the factory rims. upgraded suspension components upgraded (larger) brakes Self-leveling Xenon projector headlights (very cool) Fog Lights Automatic Climate Control (works great - set it and forget it) In-dash CD with 6-disc changer in trunk (You can replace the changer with a very slick iPod/iPhone adapter for just $152.99 from Bavarian Soundwerks) Front and Rear Side Air Bags Front Head-Protection Air Bags Vehicle Stability Control with integrated traction control (great for winter driving or just controlling stupidity) Power glass moonroof (nice, wide opening, too) Power locks Power windows (the triangular, power rear windows even open up like a 1990s minivan for extra coolness) Heated, power-adjustable side mirrors (The passenger side mirror rotates down when you're in reverse so you can see your tire and the curb while parallel parking. How awesome is that?) Vehicle History (as I know it) I purchased this car when I was working at a Honda Dealership. After my short-lived ownership of a 1995 Integra GS-R (it was stolen two months after I bought it! Arrrrrgh!), I needed something to ease my pain. I walked over to the BMW dealership next door and browsed their used lot, and set my eye on this car which had 89k on it. I had been trying out other vehicles, notably a WRX and a 450 horsepower burnout-machine Pontiac GTO. But after about 10 minutes of driving, I knew that this Bimmer was just the right thing. I did my due diligence and had the mechanics I knew well look it over, then bought it. A day or two later, I got a call from the previous owner who had traded it in on a new BMW. I guess while he was in for an oil change, his salesman had mentioned that he sold the car to me over at the Honda dealership. The guy offered to sell me his winter tires and rims, and told me the history he knew of the car. Apparently (and if I recall correctly the carfax agreed) he bought it used and in perfect condition from the original owner after the factory warranty was up. This second owner loved the thing and kept it until he was ready for a brand new BMW. The guy implored me to keep this thing for a long time and enjoy it, because he "just loved that car." Well, I kept it until now, and I can honestly say that I agree with the previous owner. This thing is equal parts sports car, luxury car, commuter car (30MPG highway!), grand tourer (I've taken it to Vermont, Iowa, Florida, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston and more), and practical transportation (4 adults actually fit just fine, and the rear seats fold down for quite a bit of usable space). This car is happy in town or out on the open road, getting groceries or cruising at 90mph (when legal?). But it's time for it to go. Here's the bad news (because you should know, and I'm not a shady guy): The car needs tires. I don't have my summer wheelset on because my Michelin Pilots were worn down into the wear bars last summer. I was anticipating selling the car over the winter, so I just put my winter wheels on and threw the warm-weather set in the storage closet. Right before my PA inspection was up for renewal, I hit a pothole at night in a construction zone and the next day a small bubble developed in one of my sidewalls. I don't think the car would pass the safety inspection with the tire damage, so I didn't take it in. The car has been mostly sitting around since then, except for short, low-speed trips to the grocery store or around northwest Philly (nervously avoiding the police due to my now greatly-expired inspection, and with a good jack in the trunk just in case the tire finally started going down). Here's the other bad news: The service engine light is on. I have a code reader, and it's telling me the car is running lean (P0171, P0174) and it's misfiring (P0313). The car is running rough at idle, but seems just fine otherwise. It could be a simple vacuum leak (idle control valve?) or something else (O2 sensors?). I'm not a mechanic. And since I'm selling the car, I can't justify taking it in to get diagnosed and fixed at this point. As great as this car is, and as good as it looks, we're talking about a BMW with almost 140k on it. With new tires and probably a few hundred bucks worth of work, this thing could probably be a reliable daily driver. If I wasn't between jobs and without a need for a car at this time, I'd fix it in a heartbeat. But my loss is your gain, I guess. *not my driveway (maybe someday) Auction Details This car is being sold as-is. It does not have a valid Pennsylvania inspection. This car needs new tires. I have been driving it around on the current tires for months, but I cannot guarantee that you won't have problems if you drive it away from here. The car has a Service Engine light illuminated and an associated rough idle, buy seems to run fine otherwise. There are some minor cosmetic dents and dings in the car, and some interior wear (it has 140k miles). The pictures in this posting were taken today, August 24th, 2010 unless noted otherwise (I do weddings). I have a payoff for the car that must be satisfied before I can send you the title. The lien is with Members 1st FCU. I'd be happy to work with a trusted third party to handle the transaction; however, the associated fees would be in addition to the sale price. I will get the title to you as soon as I can after the payment clears. $1000 deposit required within 48 hours of winning bid. I will email you directly following the auction to work out the purchase details. Good luck and happy bidding! If you have any questions, please contact me through eBay or email me directly at ncltje42 -AT- yahoo dot com. On Aug-26-10 at 09:51:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve set at $4800 (if we're close to that I'll sell it).
