Vehicle Detail
I am selling my beloved and trusty ol’ 1981 Mercedes 300TD. This has been one of the most dependable cars I have ever owned and I hate to sell her. But I have recently moved and no longer have the garage space available to park her in. The car has been in California all it’s life and in fact it still has the original license plate, which was issued back in 1981. In fact the whole car is almost completely original including the Becker radio, first aid kit, roof rack cross bars, owners manuals, etc. The car has never been smoked in and has no odors. The odometer works perfectly and the mileage is accurate at 226K . I am not the original owner but I have every service record since the day it was delivered to the first owner in Beverly Hills ! The car has been meticulously maintained over the course of its life and the records speak for themselves. The engine starts right up, first try every time and there is NO SMOKE. As with any car this age, there are naturally a few minor drips and seeps here and there around the engine and trans. A few of the recent repair items I have performed are: new front brake rotors, new battery, new tires, recharged A/C, replaced hood liner, All the electricals work as they should, including, power windows, power antennae, all gauges and dash lights, front and rear wipers. The cruise control does work some of the time but it should have the control module replaced for more dependable operation. I had this priced out at $200 to repair and decided to wait since I really don’t use it much. The central door locking system works as it should for all 5 doors. The interior is in great shape overall, considering the age. There are a few minor cracks in the dash, and a small tear in the headliner(see photos) The seats are good and solid with no sagging and there are no tears in the upholstery. The exterior was professionally repainted to the original factory color. She runs strong on the freeway and easily cruises at 75-80+mph with the turbo spinning away as it should. The transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly. There is a minor shudder in reverse sometimes, before it’s warmed up, but it’s never an issue. Since this car has always lived in California, it has absolutely no rust anywhere! I welcome anyone to come see the car in person and/or take it your mechanic to have it checked over. I am not an auto mechanic but I have tried my best to describe what I can about this car. It is not in perfect condition, but it is in really great shape overall, and has been well maintained with all the records to prove it! It is getting increasingly difficult to find these cars in great condition like this one. Please ask any questions before bidding and I will try to answer them. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country! The winning bidder is responsible for shipping and I will gladly meet you at the Sacramento airport. The winning bidder is required to make a $500. deposit within 48 hours of close of auction via paypal. The balance is due within 5 days and I will accept a cashiers check or cash only. Please bid with confidence and check out my high eBay rating. Good Luck, Jeff
