Vehicle Detail
This is my extremely rare NSU 1200 Automatik. I've restored a few NSU's and currently have 2 projects to go. I'm going to scale down my NSU collection to a couple examples so this one is next on the block. I have painstakingly restored this car over many years to the stock original condition. Some really great people in the NSU club have helped me including some in Europe and the USA. I have upgraded a few things to make it more robust and reliable but kept it in the original whenever possible. This is a cherished car. Here is what you get: NEW: paint (B+), carpet, upholstery, all plastic bushings, brakes components, window rubber, trim, tires and various NOS parts on the car. Almost everything works. Everything that came from the factory with gold cad plating has been plated. Engine tin and wheels are all powder coated. All the hoses are German and braded original type. It has a factory alternator system (factory option). The vacuume controller is one of the last rebuilt units in the USA and it comes with a vacuum can shifter rebuild kit ( I did get the last one about 2 years ago). The engine is super clean and each cylinder is over 150 lbs. compression. It is not rebuilt, it good original. It has a Blaster ignition triggered by a Petronix electronic ignition. This is all hidden in the engine bay so it looks stock. It also has a electric fuel pump. The heater box and muffler are Jet Hot ceramic coated It's really fun to drive. The gears click right in even with the somewhat crude vacuum operated automatic unit. It's pulled my family of 4 up hills nicely. The way it works is much like the famed RO80. There is a controller that works off the shifter. When activated it send vacuum to a can mounted on the engine that pulls the clutch in for you. There is a tiny torque converter that take car of stopping for lights and shifting. It's the same system used by DKW, Mercedes, Porsche and VW for their automatics. I'm cleaning out my spare parts as well. With the car I have spare body parts, engine (4 I think), all the glass, and a several large boxes of spares. I also have a shell of a 1200 if you would like it. There isn't much by the way of bad news. There is a scratch low on the drivers door. There are a couple of small bad patches on the rockers (metal) and the radio has a blown fuse. The bumpers are not perfect but they are stainless steel (nice hmm?). Spare bumpers go with the car. The reserve is low(ish) and I pricing this to sell. It's downsize time. I'll be happy to assist in shipping to anywhere. The title is free and clear.
