Vehicle Detail
1969 Alfa Romeo Spider. Rockers will need to be replaced. These are available in Europe ( http://www.okp.de/xtc2/index.php/cat/c4126_Door-sills.html ), ( http://www.alfa-service.com/index.php/cat/c2042_ROCKER-PANELS.html ) from various suppliers at approx. $1000. Rear clip will need to be pulled. The car was rear-ended at some point before I owned it, and it buckled over the rear wheel wells. I have been told it can be pulled from Daron Walker at www.vintagecustoms.net. The previous owner drove it as it was, and parked it at his winery in Carmel, California until he sold it to me. I started the engine up, but it produced spitting oil at the valve cover vent which tells me it needs new rings. I removed the gas tank, flushed it and put in a replacement fuel pump. Almost everything is there except for the front and rear calipers. I spent some money rebuilding and powdercoating the front and rear calipers at www.goldlinebrakes.com. They aren't included. The car is being sold as a restoration project or as a parts car. No claims are being made and you are welcome to come inspect it. You'll need to arrange to come and trailer it. I was going to restore it until a job relocation. These cars are increasingly valuable and restoration parts are readily available. I would restore it, but just can't right now and it needs to go to a new home so it can get back on the road. These cars are a blast to drive. On Aug-11-10 at 16:20:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end the auction early. On Aug-12-10 at 07:25:49 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve has been set at $1000. I invested more but that's the way it is. The front bumpers have minor depressions and wouldn't take much to fix. Also notice the very rare front crossbar is present in front of the front Alfa grill. What doesn't show is the glove box door is with the car. The car has Koni's, condition unknown. Car sold as is, where is, but for the right person and or sufficient greenbacks I might haul it over locally. But I really don't want to burn a day of vacation time travelling with the car for a couple hundred bucks. It doesn't pencil out. I can't do anything about it, but please be courteous and please don't bid unless you can, and intend to follow through. On Aug-14-10 at 16:58:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Put a battery in the car and the engine turns over freely. Placed 2 gallons of fuel in the tank after looking inside for any bad rust. I did not leave fuel in the tank when parked.. I had put a replacement fuel pump in the vehicle when I parked it. Not a new fuel pump, a replacement. The engine turned over freely and easily but I did not hear the fuel pump humming today. When I started the car as described above I bypassed the thermostatic actuator with something similar to the Shankle shure-start idea. That was when it started originally. I did that because I wasn't sure if the thermostatic actuator still worked and I wanted to eliminate that from the equation. On Aug-15-10 at 18:23:12 PDT, seller added the following information: The 2 other original style 14" steel wheels are in the trunk. The Goodyear slicks on the car were at Laguna Seca. They will hold air long enough to get you home amigo. The Marelli distributor looks pretty good inside but will need a securing clamp, easily available on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Alfa-Romeo-Giulia-Bosch-GTV-Spider-Super-distributor-/370418708382?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories
