Just moved to Vermont from Wyoming, so my Jeep has never seen salt. 2 quarter size spots started under the doors. That's it. NO rust under the body, no rust on the frame and no cracks, breaks, flaking, or repairs to frame either. Most of it is still black and has never been welded on. NO rust on the tailgate, NO rust on the floors, NO rust on the fenders. Never been lifted. Has a 5,000 lb ( yes 5,000 ) Curry receiver hitch, excellent near new tires, T4 transmission was rebuilt app 30,000 miles ago. Jeep has 109,000+ on it. This is the factory wide trac version. New radiator, New alternator, New HEI distributor conversion, New high performance clutch ( stiff ! ), New water pump, New 4.2 high performance 1990 motor with app. 3500 miles on it ( just used it for elk hunting in the west ).Jeep put these in some 1990 Wranglers and all had aluminum valve covers. Has hard top w/ hard doors, and also has a Bestop super top kicking around here somewhere ( doors need new upper 1/2 sections or new zippers ). NOT power steering or power brakes ( they just get you into trouble up in the mountains). Dash pad excellent, near new high back seats. Back seat has a tear in cover, but have another cover around here too. 4wd works excellent. 60-75 lbs oil pressure depending on whether cold or been running. Now the headaches. Fuel gauge does not work. Hit a huge pothole in the road and it stopped working so probably wire popped off. Jeep set for roughly 8 months during our moving and now oil return is slower than oil pumping. Means that oil will build up in the rocker cover and blow out. Think a piece of the RTV silicone from the aluminum rocker cover dropped into the return holes in the head. May need to be rodded. (Oil pressure is steady and compression is perfect across the board.) Do have another head with under 30,000 just in case and also have a short block from same motor. This was also a 1990 high performance 4.2. I do drive it daily. Runs like a V8.The HEI ignition conversion is a high dollar item, but worth every cent. Email me for more photos. Will also trade towards a 2000 up 4 runner, Sequoia, 4 door Tundra, crew F150, Escalade, Yukon, etc.in excellent condition with lower mileage only, 4wd only.No gold plated overpriced vehicles.
