Up for sale is the epitomy of excess 1950's automotive styling....fins galore....on this 1959 Chevrolet 4 door L6 automatic. I have owned this car for around a year and it spent its whole life in salt-free central North Carolina (Thomasville). I don't have time to cruise it anymore and don't want it to sit around until my kids are grown and free time returns. I have the original paperwork and window sticker for the car, along with inspection receipts from the early 70's which document the low mileage. It was repainted once in the early 1990's and the L6 rebuilt (with receipts) around that same time. I purchased the car from the original buyers family. Engine: Runs well but could use a carburetor rebuild or replacement. Original motor....rebuilt/bored, etc......did not come with an oil filter. Trans: Original powerglide shifts well Interior: All original and could use restoring. Headliner is tattered. Door panels are a little wavy and showing age. Dash is very nice and all gauges work, including the tube radio. Lights all work ok. Seats need reupholstered. Glass is all good and original. Chrome: Bumpers are faded but could be rechromed....stainless is all there and in good shape. Grille is very nice. Body: All original body with minimal rust...some bubbles are starting in the door corners. Quarters are original and nice. Front clip is very nice with no rust. Center trunk pan has some rust and would need replaced at some point, due to trunk leakage. Floors are ok as is the frame. There is some peeling of the repaint and surface rust on the top of the car around the trim...no holes just surface rust....I hope to have the top rust removed/sealed/repainted before the car is released but do not guarantee it will be done. Wheels: Has ralleys on it now but also have the original steel wheels/caps with bad tires. Dare to be different....this car draws more looks than a new Vette or Camaro. Has manual steering and manual drum brakes. Brakes need bled occasionally after sitting....gas tank is new. May consider trade on a later model convertible or 4 door 4wd truck....or 4 stroke jet ski or fish/ski boat. Can work with shippers if you want this shipped overseas....may be able to deliver to an east coast port for fee......can store for awhile if needed. Will subtract $300 from the final price if you want the original wheels/tires....and I keep the ralleys/tires. The original wheels are fine and painted white with one extra for the spare. The tires are WWW and not good....one will not hold air. Hubcaps included.
