Make/Model: 1975 Jaguar XJ12C Coupe www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rEYDQq5bwl VIN: UF2G50251 Registration: 049-VAT, Washington Mileage: 50,517 (speedometer and actual) History/Lineage: Body Tag Numbers are; Car No, UF2G50251BW, Engine No. 7P-25165 LA, Body No, 5G 1352, Gearbox No. 27-570. The VIN indicates that this is # 191 out of a total of 821 produced in 1975. The majority of the 821 were R H drive. In 1975, the XJ12 C Series II Coupe was JAGUAR's celebrated flagship. Based on the 12-cylinder sedan, this two door hard top was introduced in late 1974 and was the last automobile design the famous Sir William Lyons supervised during his decades-long leadership of Jaguar. It was powered with a 12 cylinder 60 degree vee overhead cam engine with aluminum head and block, displacing 326 CID (5433cc) and, with the new for 1975 Bosch electronic fuel injection system, was rated at 244HP with 269 lb-ft of Torque. They were equipped with 3 speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission and had a 3.31 ratio rear axle. They also featured 4 wheel powered disc brakes, power steering, and fully independent front and rear suspension. Other standard features included power windows, air conditioning, AM/FM ste-reo-cassette, telescoping steering wheel, dual gas tanks, and tinted windows. The combination of classic styling in a pillar less hardtop coupe, luxury touring sedan comfort and amenities, and sports car performance and handling capabilities (top speed is 140 MPH) made this one of the more outstanding vehicles of its time. This car is Pale Primrose Yellow with chrome wheels and Saddle Tan Connelly Hide leather interior. This particular example was purchased new in Los Angeles, California and was given as a wedding present to the current (the wife) and only owners. It was stored in a protective environment for 26 years and currently has 50,517 actual miles. It was taken out of storage in late 2009 and professionally repaired, tuned, serviced, and detailed to return the vehicle to its original capabili-ties and performance levels and as new appearance. Most of this work was performed by Classic Motorsports of Mukilteo, Washington (owners have detailed receipts). Car is in the process of being placed into use for pleasure and for participating in automobile oriented events such as shows and tours. Appraised by: waltscollectorcarappraisals@gmail.com 1975 Jaguar XJ12C Coupe VIN UF2G50251(continued) Description/Condition Summary: This car is an exceptionally nice well preserved as new appearing, one owner low mileage, un-restored original example. It has recently been removed from an extended benign storage and professionally inspected, repaired, tuned, and serviced to bring it up to its full potential capabilities. This is the low production X12C Series II Coupe model in Pale Primrose Yellow with Con-nelly leather and burl grain walnut trimmed interior and equipped with all desirable options includ-ing automatic transmission, power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows. Telescop-ing wheel. air conditioning, and AM/FM-stereo sound system. Pages 3 through 7 of this report provide a condition description with photos. Condition/Rating: This is a Number 2 plus on the Old Cars Price Guide rating system. Condition #1 is normally reserved for concourse quality show vehicles, most of which are trailered to car shows, or to vehi-cles that have just completed a premium quality restoration, condition #2 represents show quality level vehicles that have very limited use and receive special care, condition #3 represents well pre-served originals, or good older restorations looking excellent at 20 feet, but requiring minor atten-tion to be show quality. Pricing Data/Analysis: Old Cars Price Guide dated August 2010 shows a #4 as $ 4,400, #3 as $ 9,900 , #2 as $ 15,400, and a #1 as $ 22,000. The current CPI Value Guide shows $ 2,725 for fair, $ $ 5,250 for good , and $ 11,175 for excel-lent. The current May though August 2010 NADA Classic, Collectible, And Special Interest Appraisal Guide shows $ 5,700 low, $ 7,125 average, and $ 9,300 high. These prices tend to be low for the nicer examples. There were only 821 of these produced and most of them were right hand drive. Finding a nicely preserved XJ12 C with the steering wheel on the left side is rare. A few have found their way to the scrap yard and many of the Coupes that come onto the market are in need of expensive repairs and rebuilds. Also, some of them have been re-powered with Chevrolet V-8 engines This appraiser worked in England as an Engineering consultant in the late 70’s and this was fairly common even in their home country. However, there are still some outstanding examples of XJC’s around and they are certain to continue to grow in popularity as more collectors become aware of their characteristics. A survey of examples available locally and of those advertised nationally in specialty magazines and on line, and of recent auction results indicates that the Old car Price Guide values appear a little high. There are currently 5 examples advertised ranging from good to a couple of examples that have had premium quality frame off total restorations. The prices quoted on these examples are $ 8,995, $ 11,200, $ 18,000 (reduced from $ 29,000), $24,000, $ 37,500, and $ 49,950 for an exceptional quality totally restored show car. value as $ 35,000( thirty five thousand five dollars ). ______________________ Walter R.
