This a very low mileage all original 560 SL in the very best color combination- Signal red with palomino leather interior. The condition of this accident free car is exceptional - the body/paintwork/ chrome look like a new car- the depth of color and shine is truly outstanding. This car has always been garaged, and literally never seen rain with me. The interior also is exceptional- with the palomino leather still soft and supple, with no tears or cracks. The dashboard has no cracks, and the walnut burl is absolutely perfect with no spider cracks in the finish. Most of the old SL's have some issues in this area, but not this car ! The canvas softtop is original, works perfect , and is in excellent condition, since it has had little use over the years. Mechanically, this car is also outstanding. Last year, I had a Mercedes mechanic go through the car completely with a blank check authorization to do a complete major routine maintenance service and to replace anything that wasn't perfect. All fluids were changed , including transmission fluid and filter , brake fluid , new antifreeze etc. A new water pump was put in. A new battery was installed. New brake pads and rotors were put in. A new insulating hood pad was installed as the original pad was starting to deteriorate from age. I have service records dating back 20 + years, although there really hasn't been anything significant done to the car. Mostly it is a record of routine state inspections and oil changes. All the work has been done so a new owner doesn't have to worry about it ! The engine and transmission both run strong. All the instruments/controls work, A/C is ice cold , power antenna works perfectly, and the car still has the original Becker radio which works great. The tires were replaced about 8000 miles ago, and still have very good tread with no wear spots. There are a couple of very minor items that keep the car from being totally perfect. One of the wheels has a very small ( couple of inches ) curb rash on the rim edge only, which is barely noticeable, and in my opinion, not worth doing anything about it. There was also a VERY small stone chip on the hood which was touched up and is not noticeable unless you know exactly where it was. The rubber door seals also show normal wear, but are not damaged or needing replacement. I am a private owner- not a dealer, and will be selling the car at a reserve price that does not have to include a dealer profit margin, so if you are interested in an SL that is all original and destined to become a collectible classic, please consider this one. I am newly retired, and my wife will be retiring in the near future, and she would like us to buy a brand new car to travel around the country, so the SL needs to be sold. The reserve is set for less than I have into the car, as I realize that the current economic climate has impacted realistic pricing in the collectible market. This doesn't mean that I am giving it away , but you will be able to buy the car for much less than some of the dealer owned low mileage SL's that are currently listed on Ebay . The Carfax is totally clean and can be sent to you via email if requested. Carfax indicates car is eligible for their free buyback guarantee. There are no stories or issues with this SL- when I was looking to buy , I spent months looking for the very best car out there, and this was the one ! I will also include a fitted car cover that was used while the car is in the garage, and a hardtop hoist pulley system, which allows for one person to raise and lower the hardtop, and also store the hardtop above the car during the summer. All original manuals, spare key, original sales brochures and color charts, and service history/ receipts will come with the car. I have the clear title.
