UP FOR AUCTION IS A 1968 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE C-CODE 289 V8 SHOWING 17,082 MILES ONTHE ODOMETER THAT RUNS & DRIVES FINE. Factory options; power steering, power convertible top. Previous owner added GT trim, GT flip-open gas cap, GT "C" stripe, emblems and fog lamps This 68 Mustang convertible has been adult owned. It's a cool driver that I purchased from a private owner in the Northeast recently and have been doing some work on it in my spare time. Frankly, I thought I would have much more spare time. I was mistaken, so......benefit from my mistake! The vehicle was FRESHLY PAINTED about a year ago in a nice driver-quality paint-job. There is some over spray on rubber parts...that probably need replacement anyway. A "repaint kit" of rubber seals is readily available from any classic Mustang parts house. Previous owner added the GT trim, fixed up the interior with a new carpet, door panels, and reupholstered the driver's seat. The exterior received new emblems, fog lights, some new trim. The body was wetsanded and buffed out. Patched the floorboards where needed as well as undercoated the entire bottom of the car. Interior is in GOOD overall condition. Seats in good shape (driver's seat redone, bottom of rear seat has a couple of small rips that I didn't get to). Steering wheel is OK with a few small cracks. Dash is OK as well Speedo, gas gauge work fine.Door panels are newer as is one armrest. Convertible top is older and looks presentable, rear window is foggy, will need replacement. Overall a nicely presentable driver interior. Underside received a new set of shocks, exhaust has been completely redone at some point. Floors were patched, passenger side torque box was rebuilt, and the entire underside was coated with thick undercoating. Under the hood lies the stock 289ci/200hp motor that runs well. Like any 40 year old car, a good tune up couldn't hurt.The battery, starter, starter cable has been replaced and the engine dressed up with some chrome as you can see. The car runs/drives and starts at the turn of the key. Transmission shifts nice and smooth. Brakes stop well although pedal is a little spongy. Steering is nice and nimble and the car rides very soft. Being an old car, it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shines up well with good luster for a nice driver but it has various small imperfections as you would expect. Not working: fog lights (not hooked up), horn, convertible top (operates manually fine), perhaps a bulb or two need replacing, hood mounted turn signals (not connected). Bumpers have some pitting and small rust spots and rocker panel moldings shold be replaced as they're weathered. Dash cluster could use detailing or rebuild as the edges have been painted black. Missing: radio, jack. That's about all I was able to notice. It may need a few other things as any other used car, so please keep that in mind. Bottom line is that this is a vehicle for a hobby. You will be tinkering. These old cars are "needy". (kind of like my first wife.).
