Vehicle Detail

Do NOT buy this car unless you can repair it, pay to have it repaired, OR plan to part it out. Up for auction is a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190e, the car runs BUT it doesn't run very strong and will die out if you don't press the gas pedal down (the gas is 2-3 years old, that might be why). I bought this car around 5 years ago and have only driven it a few times since then, I've mostly kept it in my garage because I didn't have time to deal with its problems. First off something seems to be draining the battery, I've checked and it doesn't seem to be any of the fuse-related electrical systems and is probably an autonomous system, I'm not great with electrical so I wasn't able to figure it out. Secondly a lot of the cars electric equipment including the A/C, the heater, the CD player, the signals, the power windows, and the sunroof do not work. The tail lights, headlamps, and signal lamps all turn on, the left side electronic mirror works and so does the interior lamp. I'm not sure if the odometer works or not, I don't think it does. On to external damages, the front bumper was damaged as the car was being unloaded when I got it (I have the pieces that broke off though I doubt they can be reattached), also the front bumper is damaged on top from before I bought it (see pictures). The hood is opened by an interior lever, but you need to use a pin connected to the grill to get it open. The center piece for the right front hubcap is missing. The rear bumper is scratched, the antenna is missing, and the hood has some minor waterspots, and the hood ornament is missing. Its also been brought to my attention by trader_mcdonald that dispite the floor mats and the rear ornament this car is not a 2.3-16 model. This is a car that will need quite a few repairs to get it into tip top shape, its fairly clean and has a lot of great parts. I'd like to get rid of it soon as I'm getting another car so I'm starting the auction at .01 with no reserve and will sell it for any price. If you're in the Twin Cities area and want to come take a look feel free to email me to schedule an appointment, if you have any questions or want any pictures or information feel free to contact me for that as well. Thanks for looking. On Jul-30-10 at 19:47:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I took the car out for a ride this morning and have some good and bad news to report. First off I put about a gallon of gas in and the car was able to start right up and managed to stay on without any assistance. Unfortunately the car wasn't able to drive very fast, I think there might be a problem with the transmission, also the speedometer wasn't working (though all the other gauges seemed to work). I've made it clear that this car is for repair or parts so don't bid unless you feel you can either repair it or part it out, I've been as honest as I can be about all the car's problems, and am willing to sell the car for a much lower price because I want to make sure that whoever buys it knows what their doing. Thanks again. On Jul-30-10 at 19:49:01 PDT, seller added the following information: sorry they're not their On Aug-02-10 at 15:40:13 PDT, seller added the following information: It should be obvious from what I've said above but if you're the winning bidder understand that this car will need to be towed.
