Vehicle Detail
This car has been disassembled and sitting in my garage since 1996 with the intent to fully restore. The previous owner started the process by adding new GM NOS rear quarters (one of them still has GM part tag on inside), new GM NOS front fenders (one also still has a GM part tag on inside), GM NOS lower valance. These were installed and painted while the car was being driven long before I bought it. The front windshield looks new as well. Since I've had it, I had the Pontiac rear end rebuilt and added a new Auburn posi with 3.55 gears- it is set up for multi-leaf springs and they are included (no hardware). I restored the front sub frame with all new bushings, Hotchkis coil springs, larger sway bar and links, tie rods, idler arm, and added complete disc brake set up (originally a power drum car). The sub frame was blasted and painted as well, it has a power steering box installed ( but no pump). The car does not have the original motor, but includes a Pontiac 350 short block that came with it- looks like it was rebuilt previously (Note: no other engine parts other than cast iron exhaust manifolds). It also comes with a Pontiac turbo 350 automatic and newer torque converter (could be a B&M as it is blue), and drive shaft (no u-joints). The top mechanism is virtually rust free but the top got torn during years of storage and will need to be replaced (have boot too). The top pump motor operated prior to removing the top back in 96 and is still in the car with cylinders and hoses. The interior is all original and in decent condition for a 40+ year old car (no carpet). The dash is all original and uncut with the original radio still in it, there is a small crack in the dash pad. I have the original center console as well. All the parts that came off the car are in boxes along with some extra parts (grilles, wire harnesses, various emblems and fasteners, tail lights and housings, seat belts.....) , however I can't guarantee it's all the parts to compete the car. The car still needs to have the floors and inner rocker replaced drivers side- I started on right side back then and stopped ( still have the other reproduction pan that goes with the car). If I were to do the floors today, I would replace it all with a full piece floor that includes all the brackets and reinforcements- these were not available back in 1996! The trunk floor has been replaced, the trunk lock bracket was removed and needs to be welded back in. The outer rockers do have some rust and will need some patching. The doors are in good shape with minor bubling in a corner or two, the hinges are original but should be rebuilt. The fire wall has some minor rust but otherwise sound. The rear outer wheel tubs have been replaced. I have the front inner fenders (extra included), front end nose assembly (great condition), radiator, fan shroud, and 350 hood. The underside is typical of a unrestored car and should be sand blasted to remove the crud from all these years. True mileage unknown. The car does not come with wheels or tires or the dolly cart it is on. The engine short block does not come with the engine stand. The winner will need to make necessary arrangements to transport this as is (un-assembled as shown), I may be able to help load (let's talk). This car is also listed locally so I reserve the right to end the action at anytime. Can't think of much else, so look at the pictures and ask questions before you bid. With a little work, this could be a great car. On Jul-28-10 at 04:02:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Bidders with zero feedback will be canceled, sorry. On Jul-30-10 at 17:00:16 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine short block is actually a 400 motor (not 350) based on the 0/0 numbers in the lifter bore and the block casting number 481988. The date code is F013 , June 01,1973. The YM makes it a 1974 model year L-78 option engine, trans am/ firebird. You can still see the cross-hatch pattern on the cylinder walls and no ridge at the top of the bore, hence the likely hood it has been rebuilt (bored with new pistons). Hope this helps. On Jul-30-10 at 17:30:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Some have asked so: The sheet metal part numbers still on the backside of the panels; LH rear quarter panel 8784181 (the RH side was found to be 8784180 however I touched it and it fell off into the wheel well area, nuts!). The LH front fender is 9798213, the RH fender tag is gone but you can still see area where it was stuck to)
