Driven about 1000 miles since restoration work was ended, it features attractive red paint, a new ragtop, detailed underbody, a clean interior, and a powerful low-mile 1641cc drivetrain with dual Weber 40’s – it’s a fun car that offers VW lovers exciting looks and ride. Once you’ve turned the key, you’ll be tempted to bury the needle in this neat retail red 1957 Beetle Oval Ragtop. With its cool, custom looks, hot color, lowered stance, spun aluminum hubcaps, a great model year, neat ragtop and great performance, it all adds up to fun – in one great package! . Major Features: Excellent pan restoration. New peppy 1641cc drivetrain and new freeway flyer gearbox. Widened rear fenders with lowered stance. Hey, it’s a red ragtop – irresistible and its a 1957 Oval Ragtop – anything from the 50’s is a must-have! Additional Special Items: Rare “W” Decklid. Hella tailight lenses. Hella headlight lenses “Bullet” front fender-mounted turn signals, front fenders. Custom 8” wide 5 bolt pattern rear wheels. New headliner (uninstalled). Black carpet kit. Hurst shifter. Batwing steering wheel. 2.5” dropped spindles, front. VDO white-faced gauges mounted in center console. Spun aluminum hubcaps. New stainless trim. New mirror/visor combo. Lightweight clutch and flywheel. Big Engle cam. 40 IDA twin Webers. 1641cc engine. Wide fiberglass rear fenders to accommodate larger rear tires. Texas antique license plates. Boze stereo system. New tinted glass. De-chromed bumpers. 12 Volt electrical system. Boze stereo system. All console lighting works properly. Wipers are inoperative. Speedometer reports about 10 MPH more than actual speed due to larger rear tires. Horn operates from dash knob. Tires are 100% - this cool Oval Ragtop Beetle rides on 135/R15 Nankang radials up front, and 255/60/R15 Uniroyal Tigerpaw radials in the rear. Steering and alignment are excellent. Freeway flyer ransmission shifts through all gears flawlessly. Interior items that need completion include headliner installation (headliner is included), door handle and window crank are not secured to driver’s door, sunroof canvas is unstitched in front and sunroof crank is unsecured. Driver's seat cover is loose at bottom of seat. The front and rear turn signal housings are in older, spiderlegged paint. Inspected and tagged in the great State of Texas.
