Needs a new head, new trans, 2054cc engine - Stroked 1914cc engine (total displacement of 2054cc) - New 4 speed manual transmission - Oil cooler - Gowesty.com 15" custom rims - Dual Kadron 40 carbs Here is my 1970 VW Bus Westfalia Camper with the Pop Top. It needs a new head on the driver side. The engine will start but the bus won't go over 40mph. I did a compression test and the driver side is 33 pounds for each cylinder and the passenger side is 150 pounds each. The damage occured because my son was trying to tune it up and he stripped the distributor clamp down bolt and then drove it. When it started to run badly he drove it home and I discovered the loose distributor and the stripped bolt. It has a new 4 speed manual transmission with almost zero miles on it. As soon as we got it home from the repair shop that installed the tranny my son stripped the distributor bolt. We bought the tranny from Vee Dub Parts Unlimited. We put a new engine in it from Quality German Auto Parts to replace the stock 1600cc engine. Here is their website: http://www.qualitygermanautoparts.com/Mainframe.htm The engine is stroked 1914cc, with the full flow option, a 74 stroker crankshaft, which makes for a total displacement of 2054cc. I had an oil cooler kit installed with the electric fan and dual Kadron 40 carbs. Had a new 009 Bosch distributor installed too. We bought Gowesty.com custom 15" rims for the bus. They cost about $1000. But we tried to put some very large tires on the back but they rubbed, so we went back to the 14" stock rims. I bought a lug kit so that I could put spacers on the rear tires so we could use the big tires, but I have not installed it. We also installed some Gowesty.com shoulder seat belts to replace the original ones. The new ones are just like modern shoulder belts. I still have the original receipts from the engine and tranny and most of the receipts for all service that was done to it. I got a new MagnaFlow muffler installed but they didn't put a rubber strap on it and the pipe cracked so I use a couple of clamps to keep it together. The muffler is fine and any muffler shop can weld the pipe back together and attach it with a rubber strap. The 5 digit odometer only shows 40647 and the guy I bought it from doesn't know the original miles, but he guessed that it turned over at least once. Overall the bus is pretty beat up. We never had it painted or restored. It comes with the original childs cot. There's a lot of dings in the body and the interior is pretty beat up. Check out the pictures. I don't have any way to deliver the bus, so it must be picked up or delivery must be arranged. On Jul-29-10 at 19:14:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot a couple of things for the listing. - The battery is old and probably bad but it might take a charge enough to turn the engine over. - It comes with a two year old MP3 CD Stereo player and some decent speakers (I think they are Alpine). - There's some oil leaking, probably from the oil cooler, but I'm not sure. It could be from the heads. Of course it's been sitting for almost a year, and there's not that much oil on the ground. - The child's cot has the original canvas on it but it's ripped and my kids wanted to sleep on it, so I duct taped the rip up to prevent them from crashing through. - There are 6 wheels in all, the 4 15" GoWesty rims and the 2 14" rims. One of the tires on the GoWesty rim is ruined from rubbing on the frame. Thanks.
