Vehicle Detail
1972 Porsche 911T, Targa, 2.4L engine. 33K miles on the odometer - could be original, as the car has little wear. Car, less engine, is in good condition, with original houndstooth upholstery, good body, brown paint, very complete. Engine was disassembled to rectify oil-burning before I acquired it, and I've never purchased the rebuild kit and gear to reassemble. The engine will need a rebuild, though pistons/cylinders are in reuseable shape - most would argue these should be replaced for better, newer gear. Cams are in unknown condition, and one may need replacement, per Midwest Motor Sports (Sauk Rapids, MN), who did the disassembly. With a clear title, this 911T is an excellent example of the rarer external-oil filler flap model (one model year, to Fall 1972), and would be a great project for reassembly. Car is in rural Benton County, stored in dry shed with concrete floor - I'm motivated to sell to someone that will enjoy this car. There is a small crack in the front windshield - this may be repairable with acrylic - the rear glass is perfectly intact. Detailed photos of undercarriage (new) at http://rileyporsche911.shutterfly.com This is a great project car for a Porsche-phile with the know-how to build up the engine, as the body and other running equipment need little to no work for a nice example of the early Longhood Porsche 911. I believe this is a matching engine and is original, but I’m unsure how to verify - Transmission case PN: 915.303.2218R (I don’t know if this signifies 4-speed, 5-speed, or overdrive, or doesn’t carry this info at all – would appreciate anyone that can enlighten). I have seen one reference, in Dean Batchelor’s Illustrated Buyer’s Guide: Porsche that lists the 915 gearbox as being either an overdrive, or a 5-speed, but not the standard 4-speed. Sorry I can’t offer more on this. - The engine, transmission, and all parts collected with the car (disassembled at Midwest Motor Sport from this running 911T), are included. Engine components are in plastic tubs, most are bagged in groups as they were disassembled. On Jul-30-10 at 19:14:14 PDT, seller added the following information: 07.30.10: Engine number is *6121330*
