Vehicle Detail
MIDWEST AUTO COLLECTION NO RESERVE It's the Fall of 1984. And Chevy is about to release a sports car that will define a decade, the legendary IROC-Z28. Introduced in model year 1985, this new Camaro, named after the popular competition INTERNATIONAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS, was an immediate success. Whether you were a sports car enthusiast or just someone that wanted a nice looking car to cruise, the IROC-Z appealed to the masses. The Camaro IROC-Z featured an upgraded suspension with lowered springs, specially valved shocks, larger diameter sway bars, a special decal package, and an optional Tuned Port Injection system taken from the Corvette. It also shared the Corvette's 245/50ZR16 tires and new aluminum 5-spoke 16" wheels. The Camaro IROC-Z was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best List for 1985. The 305 TPI LB9 was rated at 215 hp (160 kW). The LB9 was available only on the Z28 and the IROC-Z model with the 700-R4 automatic transmission. Also new for 1985, all Camaros featured refreshed noses and new, deeper valances and front spoiler for the Z28 and the newly introduced IROC-Z28. The IROC-Z28 was capable of .92g's on the skidpad and 63.3 MPH slaloms stock. 180,018 Camaro's were assembled in 1985. A mere 21,177 proudly wore the IROC name. We at Midwest Auto Collection, have to offer one of the few surviving inaugural year examples. A true, two owner, 20,817 original mile, Tuned Port Injected, T-Top equipped IROC Z28 finished in it's original Code 19 Black paint. This original, unrestored beauty is nicely equipped with the following factory options: AO1 Tinted Glass A90 Power Hatch Release B34 Floor Mats, Carpet, Front B35 Floor Mats, Carpet, Rear B4Z IROC Sport Equipment Package; includes special suspension, 16" aluminum wheels, P245/50VR steel belted black wall tires, and halogen fog lamps (with Z28 only) CC1 Roof Panels Removable Glass C60 Air Conditioning LB9 Engine: 215-HP Tuned Port Injected 305 MXO Transmission: Automatic with Overdrive N33 Steering Wheel: Comfortilt YE2 Radio: AM-FM stereo with cassette tape, search and repeat, clock, seek/scan, and equalizer This 20,817 mile, two owner, IROC is truly an example of American automotive history. She wears her original Code 19 Black finish proudly over her original Code 82 Gray interior. She has never been modified in any way and the only items repalced over the last twenty five years are a new battery and a new set of radial tires. She starts, stops, and performs like you would expect an honest 20K mile car would. It's like stepping back in time. Chevrolet assembled 21,177 IROC Z's in the 1985 Model Year. How many survived? Better yet, how many bone-stock, 20K mile examples still exist? Whether you owned one in high school or if you just had a poster of the legendary IROC growing up, it’s time to re-live that memory by owning one today.
