Vehicle Detail

1970 Dodge Coronet 440 2-door hardtop. Selling as is - contact me if you want to come and look at it before bidding. This is one of the Cleanest, most restored Coronet 440s that you will find out there. Get it for a fraction of the cost of a Superbee in this condition! Consider it a sleeper-car. Automatic on the column. MILES: ONLY 6,000 since rebuilt in 2003. COLOR: F8 Green; Ivy Green Metallic. STORAGE: Climate controlled garage. HISTORY: I am the third owner of this beautiful car. It was originally a 318 car and bought in Florida. I purchased it about 23 years ago in 1987 and it's been garaged kept ever since. The lady I bought it from took very good care of it and it had just a few scratches on it. BODY: Virtually rust-free before restoration. It has all original sheet metal with just a few small pieces of patch panels. There is no rust in the frame rails, floor boards or trunk pan. The body was professionally straightened by block sanding and painted in 2003 in basecoat clearcoat. The bumpers are painted body color which gives it a nice effect. During the restoration process, the car was completely disassembled and all parts were cleaned, treated, epoxy primered and painted. This car has all of the original stainless steel chrome moldings, wheel opening moldings and sill plates. New door handles. The only pitting on this car is on the bottom of both vent windows (the worst is shown in the passenger side vent window picture), very little on the side marker lights and a little on the rear side quarter chrome faux vents. All the gaskets (body seal, tail light gaskets, trunk seal, hood seal, hood to cowl seal, door gaskets, etc) have been replaced with the SofSeal brand kit. Gaskets are soft and plyable. The fuzzy window wipers on doors and quarter windows have been replaced. Inside the doors, fenders, quarter panels and frame rails were all rust proofed and undercoated. All suspension parts, rear differential springs, etc are all new and/or epoxy primered and painted. The trunklid is signed inside by Big Daddy Don Garlits. INTERIOR: Mild custom with high back bucket seats with the 6-way adjuster on driver's side. Seats were professionally reupholstered (NOT SEAT COVERS) and are are black vinyl with gray cloth inserts stitched like the factory seats. Door panels are also the same gray fabric. New black headliner and black carpet with sound deadner in the floor boards and roof. Dash is original with no cracks, standard guage cluster showing original miles on car of approx. 97,000. New glove compartment box. It has the original black lap seatbelts. No console, it is column shift. It is a factory air car, but air is not hooked up. I have a new rotary compressor and the lines from Classic Auto Air. The heater coil and evaporator has been rebuilt. The entire underdash unit has been disassembled, sandblasted and painted it needs reassembled and installed in car. No Radio, but I do have the radio plate, radio delete plate is in place now. I also have the factory double wheel radio plate. ENGINE: Rebuilt 1968 Chrysler 440 that had approx. 70,000 miles. Engine is standard bore with 9:1 compression pistons. Mopar purple 484 cam shaft. Windage tray. Eldebrock Performer RPM intake and carburator and K&N filter. Heavy duty Mopar performance rocker arms and shafts. Compcams lifters, push rods and valve springs. Remote oil filter with auxiliary oil and transmission cooler. Mildly ported 906 heads with hardened valve seats and 3 angled valve job. Double roller timing chain. Factory HP exhaust manifolds. 2 1/2" exhaust Magnaflow mufflers with stainless steel factory style exhaust tips. The engine has been painted body color in single stage enamel. TRANSMISSION: Rebuilt 1968 Chrysler 440, the same transmission from above engine. Heavy duty clutch pack, rigid 2nd gear band and B&M holeshot 2400 stall converter. Transmission is painted silver. REAR DIFFERENTIAL: 489 Case 3:23 sure-grip. New wheel bearings installed on axles. BRAKES: Front disc brakes: New rotors, calipers, wheel bearings, brake lines. All new stainless steel brakelines. Non-power master cylinder. Dot 5 silicone brakefluid. Rear drum brakes: New wheel cylinders, drums and heavy duty brake shoes. SUSPENSION: New upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, strut arm bushings. KYB gas adjust shocks. Front and rear sway bar with polyurethane bushings. .96" torsion bars. Superstock springs with 2" lowering kit. Steering box rebuilt by Steer & Gear with firm feel. Handles very well and is the best handling old Mopar that I've ever driven. Drives very straight. WIRING: All original wiring harnesses removed, terminals were acid dipped to remove any corrosion, then diaelectric greased and reinstalled. The underhood engine harness is new from switching from small block to big block engine. WHEELS & TIRES: Rear: 15x8" Rallye wheels. 275/60/15 Dunlop GT Qualifier Tires. Front: 15x7" Rallye wheels. 245/70/15 Dunlop GT Qualifier Tires. New trim rings and center caps. New Gas tank. New Windshield. Back window is tinted. Side windows are factory tinted. Excellent driving car. Even though it is not a Superbee it has the same chassis, suspension and engine as a Superbee or Coronet RT. It in much better condition than any of the Superbees that I have owned or seen as a fix-er-upper which would cost "a ton of money" to make road-worthy. I've have had this Coronet in a few car shows and have won a plaque and trophy and it gets a ton of looks! This could easily be made into a Superbee clone or keep it as is - will get lots of looks either way. SELLING AS IS - NO WARRANTY. CONTACT ME IF YOU WANT TO COME AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. Thank you for your consideration. This car is ready for you to drive home! In my opinion there are very few Coronets or Superbees that will compare to this one. $1,000.oo NON-REFUNDABLE Deposit required within 48 hours. REMAINDER OF BALANCE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS in cash when you pick up. Buyer will go to my local tag office (Monday - Friday 8-5) and is responsible for all cost to transfer title and sales tax.
