Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1967 Dodge Coronet 440; orginally a 318 car and column shift; it has been modified for drag racing use only. The car now has a 1968 383/727 and a B&M shifter mounted on the floor. I must say while this car has been modified for drag racing, it is no longer a street use vehicle. In my estimation, it would be not practical at all to try and run this for the street. Here is list of the items done to the car: 1. 383/727 combo installed ('68 for both); 4 bbl Holley 3310. Hooker Super Comp headers installed, no exhaust system. Car does run and drive; with fresh battery and gas it runs quite strongly. The engine/trans are stock internally. Engine was never apart to my knowledge, it has 93xxx miles on it. It doesn't leak any oil nor the tranny any fluid. 2. Fuel cell installed in truck; 3/8" fuel line run to carb with gauge and regulator; stock tank, lines, etc has been removed and trashed. 3. 3.91 gears out back in a Sure-Grip 489 case; Not tubbed; stock axles & brakes. Line-Lock has been installed for easier burn outs. 4. Weld ultra-lite drag wheels on front; 15x7 steel cop rims on back w/long studs for slicks; tire tread is excellent, however age of tires is questionable; all tires are at least 10 years old. 5. Interior: everything not need for strip use has been removed; seats, carpeting, headliner, radio, speaker, heater, defroster and controls have all been trashed. Safety cage has been installed along with B&M shifter and light Summit racing seat. All glass is present and in good condition. Wipers, motor, blades, etc have been removed. The stock headlights and turn signals are present and do still work. 6. Exterior: Body is in fair to decent overall condition, the car has been kept in dry storage for at least the last 15 years. Rust is not a factor now, though the rear wheel wells had significant rust at one time, this was all removed and patch panels welded in. the floor pans show some surface rust but no rust thru. A few small dents in the body but nothing major. Polishing compund on the paint and it shines pretty well. Some low-key decals were installed....Weld, Dodge. etc. The right side headlight bezel is missing, though these can be obtained at swap meets, etc. 7. Trunk: As I stated earlier, the fuel cell is plumbed in the trunk (spare tire well). I'm not sure of the size, I think it's an 8 or 10 gallon unit. The battery has also been relocated to the rear and a battery disconnect switch is located on the exterior by the taillight. What the car needs: BRAKES! The brakes have not been touched and I know the front drums are shot and internal hardware has disintergrated. The car has a little stopping power via the rears, but this car can not be driven anywhere, it must be trailered. Putting some Wildwoods on would be easy and safe for drag racing. Conclusion: As you may have surmised, this car was a project that was never fully finished, though it took many many hours of labor to get the car to this point, believe me! The intent was to have a weekend strip car to take to Keystone or some other local tracks and have some fun with. As it was, the car was never raced in it's present state; it has been sitting on a trailer in storage for the last 5 years; though with a fresh battery and gas, the car will fire up. As the pictures show I also have parts and such that go with the car (driveshaft loop etc). Though the car is on a trailer, the winning bidder must be prepared to pick up the car with his/her own trailer. I will assist with off loading, etc as needed. Please bring a fresh battery; I will bring some gas to prime the car and get it moving. Please ask me any questions; I will reply promptly. This car has a clear Pennsylvania title. This is an excellent opportunity for the budget racer or some wanting to get into the hobby. It's an extremely popular body style and will bring someone pleasure and enjoyment when finished. This is a NO RESERVE auction, though I does reserve the right to end the auction early. Thank you for your interest! On Jul-22-10 at 14:50:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I added two more pictures showing each rear wheel well and tire. Also I believe Mopar Super Stock springs were added to the rear at some point as well because the car has a very good looking rake or stance, front to rear. Thank you for your interest. On Jul-22-10 at 15:28:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Some additional information I have obtained: The fuel line is a 1/2" aluminum up to the regulator, then braided stainless line to the carb. The fuel pump is an electric Summit racing pump with relay and oil pressure cut-off switch. This is a safety concern for racing. The rear brakes were rebuilt in 2002; the front brakes definitely need attention. It has a Petronix ignition installed. The transmission has a Trans-Go shift kit installed; the 1-2 upshift will bark the rear tires. It also has a Mopar deep pan installed. When the 8 point safety roll bar was installed, a rear steel firewall was also installed per NHRA rules (see picture). The front tires are like brand-new; they were purchased in 2002.
