Vehicle Detail
Up for bid here, my 1974 Starsky & Hutch Ford Grand Torino. I bought this car back in 2001 from a cop in Texas, flew there and drove it home. "fun ride"! Since then, I had the original 460 rebuilt and beefed up a little, had the original C6 transmission rebuilt with a shift kit added, put new tires on it, back ones a little worn out now, "Mmm", replaced the air shocks, changed rear ends with a parts car I had, it's somewhere around a 373 I guess, threw the speedometer way off, but made the car alot quicker, churps 2nd gear now when you're on it. I spent about a thousand dollars to get the original AC to work, it was missing alot of parts. Got it working, but since the used compresser quit, so it's not working any more. This was an original 2b red car when it was new, when I bought it, it had been painted a darker red, with a bright white stripe, and was missing the wheel lip moldings and the bottom aluminum moldings. It had some body work done, some real half ass work on the quarter panels. About two years ago, I had the car painted back to the original 2b red, and a wimbleton white stripe, the exact same as the tv show. As nice as it came out, I wish I would have put new quarters on it. As far as the rust, being from Texas, not that much under the paint, a little on the corner of the drivers door, starting to come back through, and some on those quarters I didn't replace starting to come back through. The original interior with the red sport piping is pretty clean. dash pad is nice, front seats are worn, but not ripped up, headliners good, door panels nice! I don't consider this car a show car, it still needs some attention, Ac fixed for one. back window leaks, I guess, there's water on the floor on the back right side after it rains long and hard. There's a new ding on the hood, ofcoarse, none of the kids know anything about it. The hood is slightly bent in the front from someone pushing it down behind the catch. There's a few little flaws from the shabby bodywork under the paint when you're looking at it closely, and the original am fm radio doesn't hardly work. I put a brand new Holley 750 carburator on it last week, and it seems to running too rich, I'm going to try to get that ajusted this week. One of the headers has a small leak, I have the new gaskets, The spings make noise on the front, but no front end problems, had that checked. The car is old, and does have some rattles and wind noise.Like I said, I don't consider this a show car, I'm not trying to get $ 30,000.00 out of it, even though I probably have close to that into it. I consider it a real clean, awesome driver! A car you're not scared to drive, have fun with, and park it in a parking lot. And you better be the type to like attention. People are all the time wanting pictures with the car, of the car, beeping horns, hollering "Starsky"! All the time! I have tried to describe this car as honestly as I can. I would much rather somebody come check this car out before buying it, as know exactly how it is. I'm forced to sell this car, do to me strugling, with the struggling economy. This car is being sold "as is" ! no refunds ! I'm putting a very low starting bid with no reserve! If I didn't need the money fast, it wouldn't be here on ebay! I'll need a $500.00 dollar, non refundable paypal deposit, with the ballance being payed in full within seven days from the end of the auction.
