It is a turbodiesel with an engine life expectancy of 500,000 miles before a rebuild. This is considered one of Mercedes Benzes crowning achievements and one of the most sought after models. There is currently 128,699 original miles on the car, which is very low miles for this wagon. 1984 is considered the best year for the MB turbodiesel wagons and this wagon shows it. The wheels are upgraded to a more current MB alloy wheel and the suspension has been rebuilt with Bilstien shocks up front, new springs in the rear as well as new nitrogen globes and a rebuilt SLS valve in the rear. Anyone that knows these wagons knows that the rear suspension can be an expensive rebuild, but it’s already been done on this one. There is no sagging overnight in the rear end. The wagon handles beautifully with bigger rims and lower profile tires and a slightly stiffer suspension to give it much better handling than is typical with these wagons. Gone is the mushy feel when cornering, but not at the expense of a very comfortable touring ride. The rims are 16” instead of 14” with 205/55/16 Michelin Pilot tires. The car has been very well taken care of and has spent its life in the dry and warm Southwest. The car was just inspected by the diesel mechanic at our local MB dealership, who fixed a few things that needed attention. There was a transmission fluid leak that wound up being the seal around the front pump of the tranny. He had to pull the tranny to fix it so he rebuilt the valve body and springs and the reverse clutch as well as the first and second gear clutches while he had it out. He is probably one of the best MB diesel mechanics in Southern California and he’s been a service technician for MB for 30 years. He knows these diesels inside and out and still owns two of them himself. He went through the car and checked all systems. This wagon will run on Straight Vegetable Oil, Waste Vegetable Oil, Biodiesel, Diesel, or a combination of any of the fuels. The single tank conversions are the easiest and most efficient way to run vegetable oil in your vehicle. If you are environmentally conscious, this is the vehicle for you. This car has a neutral carbon footprint. If you are trying to save money on fuel, this is the vehicle for you. This vehicle will pay for itself in a few years in fuel savings alone if you use WVO. If you are tired of our dependence on foreign oil imports, this vehicle is for you. This car can be run on pure vegetable oil that is domestically grown and produced. Exterior Condition: The wagon has been repainted to a newer MB paint code spec and it is great condition with very few imperfections. The exterior rubber and chrome are all in very good condition. All the glass is in great shape and the window tint is in great shape with just a couple of small scratches on the rear window. The emblems are shiny and in excellent condition and the grill is in excellent shape. Interior Condition: The Mb Tex is in overall great shape. The dash has a few small cracks as you can see in the photos, but it looks great and they don’t detract from the beauty of the car. The headliner is in excellent shape and the carpet is in good condition. The door panels are in very nice condition with a small tear in one. The instrument panel and center console are in very good condition. All of this can be seen in the photos. Mechanical Condition: Mechanically this car is very sound. The transmission shifts smooth in all gears. The engine in this car performs beautifully with nice power and torque. There are no leaks in the exhaust and it is smooth running at all speeds. The alignment is true with no pulling during braking and very little excess play in the steering wheel. The brakes are strong. The tires are Michelin Pilots with about 60% tread life remaining. This car has many years of trouble free motoring to come. I would feel confident in this vehicle on a long road trip in its excellent condition. Vegetable Oil Conversion: The conversion is based on a 5 micron filter/water separator that has a top loaded heating element that automatically turns on when temperatures fall below 60F and turns off when the oil reaches 85F. This insures that the veg oil will flow through your filter no matter how cold it gets outside. The final heat stage comes from injector line heaters that get the fuel nice and hot quickly. These heaters will get the fuel to 170F within 3 minutes and if you turn them on before you start the car you will be insuring that hot oil is reaching the injectors right away. This will insure easy starts, even on cold mornings and also insure proper and complete burning of the oil which is critical for the health of your engine. This is considered a temperate climate single tank conversion designed for Southern California. It can be modified to work in any climactic conditions, so please ask any questions you have before bidding. Accessories Condition: All electronics are functioning in the vehicle. All power windows are working. The rear windows go up and down properly, but there is a slight chattering in the regulators. The sunroof is the manual type and is working properly. The tachometer functions properly and the speedometer and odometer are working. The clock does not work, but there is one on the radio. The stereo sounds great and the climate control works on the vehicle. The AC blows cold in the car and has had a recent service with a new drier and expansion valve installed and a complete recharge.
