Vehicle Detail

1973 Triumph GT6 1973 Triumph GT6 – Great Mechanical Condition, Classic British Sports Car This is by far the neatest and most enjoyable car to drive and work on that I have ever owned. Few things can beat a weekend drive in this car on a beautiful day. I have taken meticulous care of this car and kept it in a garage every moment that I was not driving it. It has been my pleasure keeping it oiled and greased up. I have done work on it to keep it running well and very drive-able. To me, the front of the car is striking. Intstalled are classic Proda Grand Touring lights and stone guards on the headlights. I have the original front grill as well as the valence covers. I personally think they detract from the natural beauty of the car, but you are certainly free to put them back on. Below are some of my most recent repairs/upgrades 1) New Rear Shocks and Leaf Spring 2) New Front Shocks & Springs 3) New Brake Master Cylinder 4) New Clutch Master Cylinder 5)Tuned up and cleaned the carburetors – runs great! 6) New Starter Solenoid. 7) Re-upholstered the interior of the car. It's not a perfect job and definitely won't win any car shows, but for a driver, it's more than adequate. The seats were left original, but seat covers used. 8) Replaced all door gaskets 9) Replaced all fluids including flushing radiator and changing oil with new filter. 10) NEW TIRES – Spent over $400 to get some better tires. These tires have less than 50 miles on them. This car is not perfect – it does have flaws: 1) Courtesy light has been removed. The wires are still there, and the switch is tucked under the dash ready for the new light. This is the same situation for the brake mc warning light. 2) The paint job is a 20 footer. From 20’ plus it looks incredible. In closer and you can notice wear and tear on the car and lack of paint luster, but it is for the most part minimal. The original color was dark burgundy. There are signs of overspray in the engine compartment. The front of the hood was repaired at one time using a spitfire hood. Some of the rivets show through the paint from this, as well as filler that was not smoothed perfectly. 3) The front left valence was removed at one time to properly work on the damaged hood. It was bolted back on. This makes the hood favor one side of the car a little bit more than the other. 4) The Horn does not work - The vehicle has new horns which work when hotwired. I believe It needs a new relay which is a readily available part that can be ordered from Victoria British Parts. It runs about $15. 5) Windshielf wipers do not work. I have the switch tucked under the dash and could be mounted if desired. I have not bothered as I never drive the car in the rain! 6) The front lights, rear, and turn signal lights do not work. I believe they just have bad grounds. The exterior and interior lights really just need to be gone through and their grounds fixed. 7) There are other imperfections such as minor dents in the front and rear bumpers. 9) All 4 rocker panels were repaired. Rivets and sheet metal were used for the repair. The rivets and filler are apprent upon close inspection. 10) The driver side window vent needs to be reattached. It stays shut just fine, but if you open it, it falls off it's rail. 11) Needs a new oil relay switch: This is roughly a $25 part. 12) Battery tray has rotted out - A battery will still hold in fine though. 13) The hazard lights do not work - they as well need a new relay. All in all, this car is in great condition and really turns heads. It does have its share of flaws caused by age such as fading and cracking paint here and there, and electrical faults, but overall, the car is a really beautiful automobile that just begs to be driven every time you look at it. The 1973 body style features what many consider to be some of the best lines produced by Triumph and many other makes of the time. The streamlined pop out quarter panels and classic MiniLite wheels are just a few of the body details that make this car beautiful. Similar in design to the Triumph Spitfire, the GT6 had many of its features but unlike the Spitfire, it was built for one reason: To win races. The added weight which came with having a coupe body style insisted that the GT6 sport a heftier inline 6 cylinder engine. Notice the emergency disconnect swith below the dash - one of my favorite details. The best place to tow this car, if you were to put it on a trailer, is from the rear. There are 2 eyelets that are perfect for hooking up to tow straps The undercarriage of this car is in amazing shape. Please come and see it to get a better idea - my jacks just won't go high enough for me to take a decent picture. It has no rot that I am aware of and some of the nicest floor plans you will see on a vehicle this old. One of my favorite parts of the car are the air vents on the rear sides. I have attempted to capture the imperfections in the hood here. The ripples and rivets are not noticeable until you get up close to the car. These are the rocker panels that were repaired. You can see the rivets and ripples from the filler. The Inline 6 cylinder engine fires up without hesitation. One of the more thrilling apsects of this vehicle is engaging 1st gear and having the car throw you back into your seat! The engine compartment is very clean and orgaznized. I had the heater removed from the car to save weight. Heat is really the last thing you need in a car with this much power to weight ratio! I have the original heater and dash controls that will come with the car if you wish to reinstall them. The brake master cylinder and clutch master were replaced very recently. The fuel pump was also replaced and has never let me down. The dual Stromberg Carbs work great. They are also fun to tune up and tinker with. I've often found myself out in the garage late at night, undwinding from the day, having a drink, and attempting to find that elusive perfect fuel/air combination. They are pretty close now! I have the original air filter cover and it will come with the car. The interior of the car is in very clean and in good shape. The fire exstinguisher has never been used, but you just never know with an old car like this! I had sound proofing put down before the new carpet. It really makes the ride feel nicer. To see this you can peel back some of the carpet. I really enjoy just sitting and gazing at the dash. The illuminated instrument panel and fluttering gauges are a beautiful display. While the dash is not original, it does have all original Smith's gauges. The horn button has been moved to just right of the steering collumn. The center hub of the wheel no longer functions as the horn. Perhaps one of the most intriguing features of the interior is the rare Smiths vaccum gauge. This colorful gauge gives you really good information on your fule air mixture and how well your carbs are performing. It's also just fun to watch. I would liken it to modern day vehicles that have a digital readout that tells you how many mpg's you are getting. The door open/close indicator is fully functional, but Is not hooked up. The sensors are tucked behind the dash and ready to be placed on either the passenger or driver side door. Included are my documentation book and workshop manual. The documentation book contains all of the receipts I have for this car, and believe me, the numbers really add up! It also contains a lot of really usefully information, such as how to correctly tune up the carburetors. Here's a chance to own a piece of british motoring history - a true classic. It is unlike any other automobile on the road today and will give you thrills. It is ready to be cherished by its next owner! Please feel free to contact me anyime. Thanks for looking!
