1961 WILLYS DJ3A DISPATCHER JEEP, Serial Number 56337 20287, I removed the hard top with plans to paint it black and get a black vinyl bikini top made, but as you can see in some of the photos, it had original military OD paint. So I thought I would offer it just as it is in case someone wanted to go back to original OD military style with stars and numbers. The engine as been completely rebuilt including hardened valves and valve seats, all new parts installed, starts quick, runs smooth, it is the correct 1961 DJ block, intake and carburator, it is 12 volts, all new wiring, all gauges work, all lights work, except the turn signals, has 12 volt electric driver side windshield wiper, hand wiper on passenger side, the brakes were completely rebuilt with all new parts, steering was rebuilt with all new parts as needed to remove any slack, transmission has new bearings and seals as needed, new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, there are no drips underneath, new seat covers, retractable seat belts, new indoor-outdoor boat carpet, needs gear shift lever knob, an original knob will be included, has working heater. Four new Coker Classic white wall tires, spare is old and weather cracked, it is a vintage style tire, five original DJ3A Willys hubcaps. Mileage shows 55803, don't have any way to show that is original, but from the overall condition of the mechanical parts of the jeep when we started the rebuild, it could very well be original mileage. I'm sure I may have forgotten something, so ask all the questions you need to feel comfortable with bidding, I'll answer all to the best of my knowledge. As far as I know there are no mechanical or other issues with this little jeep, titled and up to date tag, insured for $10,000 (you can buy it for a lot less) (NADA states the value at $13, 500). It has been said that the DJ jeeps, being two wheel drive, are like a CJ3A on steroids, it is twice as peppy as the four wheel drive jeeps. Drive it home, it's a real head turner. My mechanic drove it around town today with absolutely no problems, said it handled really nice with a lot of lookers. On Jul-12-10 at 18:00:49 PDT, seller added the following information: I added two photos of the jeep with the top on it, the top is not pressently installed on the jeep and I don't want to install it, it makes it look like a mail jeep, it is NOT a mail jeep, they were used by small businesses as delivery vehicles. The buyer is welcome to the top at no charge if they want it. It is not hard to install and I will show the buyer how to install it.
