1968 Cadillac Convertible Body Off Restoration California Car Immaculate! Well where do I start, I have a story in both words and images. The car was bought in February of 2008 and was taken to Dorias Body Shop in Bellflower. It took two months to take it Completely apart tag every single piece of Chrome, screw, upholstery, lights, windows, power window motors, dash, carpets, seats, fenders, hood, core support, radiator, engine, transmission, etc. After that the Car was stripped down to the Metal it was treated with a special yellow primer to seal the metal. This California car had no rust or bondo. Cars in this condition that are 40 years old are very hard to find. It was primed and blocked 8 Times and the owner personally watched as this work was done to perfection. All chrome pieces where taken to the Chrome shop to be triple plated in Chrome. 100 plus pieces, $6000 on that bill alone. New lights purchased over 125 items were sourced from Hub cabs, wood trim, emblems and hard parts to find. Brand new restored engine from Nationals in LA plus a new transmission. New alternator, new radiator, new power steering pump, new master cylinder, rebuild carburetor, new starter and again countless of hours in labor to do all of this over one year. Your restoration Shop will charge you $45 an hour to work on a car like this. Figure 80 hours a month over 12 months is equal to 960 X $45 that's $43200 in labor alone! This included a brand new Robinson’s top. New windshield. Custom Stereo with hand built side speaker in the Trunk. All new flooring and doors where filled with dynamat to insulate for sound. $500 car cover. New Tires. Front grill was powder coded Bar by Bar. All new rubber from Rubber the Right way in San Diego.
