Vehicle Detail
This 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport convertible is a two owner truck. First, by my father, and then by me. I have maintained the truck since it was new, and I have done most of the work myself. It is a real head turner. Most people have not seen one. They were made for three years. 1989 was the first year, and the only year that they were all fully loaded sport models. There were around 2000 made that year. Of them, they were either white, red, or black. And either 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. The truck has been parked indoors most of its life. It has been sitting in the garage for the past 10 years or so, only coming out in sunshine weather for Sunday drives. It always gets attention everytime I take it out. Below, I have stated the pros and cons for you: Pros:1 -- The rear end has been lowered 2 inches to level out the truck. 2 -- I bought custom Centerline Convo/pro 15x8.5 wheels especially made to fit the Dakota. They are the same wheels that are used on racecars everywhere. The tires are in good shape. The rear tires have about 3k miles on them and the fronts are about half worn.3 -- Alpine Stereo with USB hook up, JBL amplifier, and Fahrenheit Subs. Added power for hearing radio at highway speeds.4 -- Painted grille and front bumper to match body color5 -- Rear bumper replaced with rollpan.6 -- Transmission replaced about 15k miles ago7 -- Truck runs smooth with no noises8 -- Starts right up every time9 -- Very dependable Cons:1 -- There are small surface rust spots in different spots around the truck2 -- There are a couple of small dents that can be seen in the pictures3 -- Paint has peeled above windshield for about 6 inches4 -- Original top has a couple of spots that are worn, but does not leak yet.5 -- One foglight has broken lens All-in-all this little truck is great to drive around. There are a couple of maintenance issues that need to be addressed, like there are a couple of bulbs that need to be replaced for taillight and turn signals. Also, the transmission selector does not have notches between gears, so that needs to be fixed. If you have any questions, please ask. I can get additional pictures also, so just let me know what you need.
