Up for sale is this 1948 Willys CJ-2A jeep. I bought this jeep in 1998 from a friend of mine. I honed the cylinders and put in new piston rings. Everything is now 12 volts except the starter. I fabricated and welded a new fuel tank ( approximately 10 gallons) out of 1/8th" carbon steel plate and red coated the inside to prevent rust. The engine runs good but it does smoke a little. I replaced the fuel pump and the carborater. I replaced gears, seals and bearings inside the transmission and transfer case in 2008. Three speed. There are a lot of extra parts that will go with the jeep. An extra transmission and transfer case, water pumps, grill, halogen off road lights and other parts. The tires are goodyear military 7:00-16LW. I installed lockout hubs on the front end. The windshield is cracked, there are no wipers, doors or roof. There is some rust on the body. The roll bar is bolted on and is removable if desired as well as the rear seat. I installed a hitch on the rear bumper but have not towed anything with it. There is no speedometer. The ammeter works. The temperature gauge works but the oil pressure gauge has never worked. The little dashboard lights work. I did all of the wiring on the vehicle. New break master cylinder and the breaks do work. The headlights, turn signal lights and tail lights work. I have a Chilton's manual that will go with it. Two years ago I was driving on an old road on my friends ranch when one of the bearings in the rear differential failed. I disconnected the driveshaft and drove it home on front wheel drive. I took the differential apart and found that the ring and pinion gears and bearings need to be replaced. ( I saved all of the differential parts). My job keeps me away from home about 90% of the time and I just don't have the time to work on it. I want it to go to someone who has the time to fix it up so it can be used and enjoyed.
