Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an adorable VW convertible. It is a 4-speed manual transmission, 4-cylinder, AMFM radio and a heater. I guess you could say it is pretty basic, with no power options of any kind. Let me start by telling you that I love cars, mostly American cars, but on a whim I bought this car. I thought it might be fun to try something new, but it just hasn't found a place in our hearts, as cute as it is. We have already bought it's replacement, an Olds Cutlass convertible, it is more suitable to our lifestyle. So, the VW is up for your consideration. Please read the entire ad, because I will try to describe the car in detail, the good, the bad and the ugly. The body is quite good, the paint shines nicely, the top is fairly new and in good condition, the interior is fairly good, at least it is presentable for the most part, the engine sounds strong and starts right up, the clutch feels good and the transaxle works properly, the car is complete and very restorable. Now, for the negatives. Let me say that I do not want anyone to think this is a turnkey car, it nmost certainly is not. To some people, with some TLC, it may be useable. 1 The engine runs strong, but I don't feel comfortable with it. It may be it's low horsepower, but I think it should be tweaked a bit. 2 It is difficult to know how fast you are going, because the speedometer/odometer are not working. We drove a couple of miles and they stopped working, but there is perhaps another fifty miles on it since then. 3 The steering is heavy, I don't know if that is normal, but I suspect it will require some attention. 4 At speed, there is a shimmy, or a shake in the car,, I have no idea what is causing this. 5 There is a chip on the windshield near the bottom. 6 There is some rust on the floor pan on the passenger side. 7 There are some chips and scratches on the paint, minor rust oin the jambs, bumpers need replacing, the seatbelts don't work properly. Many of the car's problems may stem from the fact that it sat for msny years. Generally, the car really doesn't look too bad, let's call it a ten-footer. I have really tried to describe the flaws in detail. If nothing else, I can't fix a car and I have been unable to find anyone that could do any work on Beetles. Furthermore, I am not a VW guy, for what that is worth. However, I honestly believe that a Beetle lover will be able to make a nice car out of this car with time and effort. If you want to speak with me,my cell pohone is 201 954 3159. I may accept a partial trade. The car is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you have dreamed of a Super Beetle convertible and you can't spend $10, or $15 grand for a restored one, this may be your chance! Thank you for reading and have fun bidding!
