Vehicle Detail

Excellent original 1979 280ZX with an incredible 61,041 miles in outstanding condition, as you can see from the photos. This is an original car, not a restoration. I was lucky enough to purchase this car from the original owner who purchased it new in Newport Beach, California. When I spoke with the family about the car, they assured me it had been covered in the garage when not being used and it had never been left outside or seen rain, and I certainly do believe that. Take a look at the photos to see the quality of the car. More description follows the photos. As you can see, it’s a very nice car. I bought this vehicle because I had one back in the day and when I saw it I could not leave it there. About that same time I also saw some other things I had to have, and now I have too many of those kind of things, so this needs to go. The photos probably show you all you need to know. I can add that it gets better in person, and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed in this nice car. Keep in mind, I have not even washed this car. I brought it home and put it in my garage, under the same cover it has always been under. I have not detailed the engine… I have not vacuumed it… I haven’t cleaned the wheels or tires. Instead of seeing some tired old Z dripping with Armor-All, you are seeing it exactly as the older woman before me kept it… the way she kept all her things, just like new. I only take it out for a trip once in a while. As shown in the photos, the outside is quite nice… the color is somewhere between red and brown, a beautiful color. The inside is red. The car has it’s original dealer-installed Muretti rims and excellent Goodyear tires with 200 miles on them according to the paperwork. Outside has been painted once a long time back due to fading, and it was a quality job. It was also pinstriped by hand at that time, exactly as it was by the dealer, and signed by the pinstripe artist “Magoo”. The glass is all original and perfect, with a medium legal tint on the three back windows. There is no rust anywhere on the car. Inside is a true time capsule. Condition is excellent in here, with no cracks in the dash, no dirt or wear on the steering wheel, perfect door panels, excellent carpet, and a general new look most everywhere. It’s all original, too… nothing restored or cleaned up. I promise. The AC blows cold and the heater blows hot. The gauges and all electrical work great, without issues. The original radio is intact and plays fine. Horn, wipers, all accessories… all working fine. Even the clock works. The cargo area looks very nice, with some shrinking of the red vinyl material lining the cargo compartment on the left inside panel. Opening the right panel reveals the never-used original spare and unused Datsun air canister, with virgin Nissan toolbag nestled in place where it has been since the car was built. The car starts right up (with it’s original Nissan key) and runs fine. The 5 speed stick shifts great. I have had absolutely zero problems with this car, and I expect you won’t have any either. It runs fine, warm or cold, and has plenty of power. Very simple, very good. Under the hood is amazing. All the proper Japanese labels are still intact everywhere… I shot some photos to show this. Original components are here that you just can’t find anymore… original Japanese everything, except the alternator and battery which are new because I replaced them when I bought the car. Speaking of that… the day I bought this car, I took it to my mechanic to have him check it out and give his opinion. The very first thing he said when he walked over to the car was “How much for this car, right here, right now?” followed by “Where do you go to even see a car like this?” I wasn’t wanting to sell it then, and he’s not ready to buy it now. He gave the car a thorough checkup and remarked how nice and new things are. The car passed smog with incredibly low emissions as you might expect just by looking at it. This car drips no fluids and has no grime under the hood from any previous leaks. Clean as can be. Any old car has flaws. This one has two split seams on the driver’s seat bottom which looks like an easy fix, a power mirror that I can’t get to work reliably, and a slow-to-go-up power antenna (it goes down fine). There are some scratches on the underside of the front spoiler, where you have to get down on the ground to see them. The black locking gas cap (the original, of course) needs repainting. I found a couple of very small chips in the paint elsewhere. The car has newer California plates because the original owner moved from California to Las Vegas a few years ago, stayed a couple of years, then moved back here. This is all documented with paperwork that comes with the car. Other paperwork includes a 2008 bill for nearly $3,000 from the Nissan dealer for checking out the car and doing some regular maintenance items and small repairs… the result of the previous owner taking it to her dealer and saying “just fix anything you can find that’s not perfect”. Taking advantage of little old ladies ought to be a Federal offense. My reserve price is firm at $8,500. If this was your car, you wouldn't sell it for less either. For the price of, say, a used 100,000 mile Corolla... you can have something nice to make your friends and family crazy with envy. There are certainly cheaper Z’s out there, and they certainly don’t look like this one. This is a private party deal, a car from my personal collection... I am not a car dealer. This car is currently registered and insured in my name, and a current California smog certificate is provided. International sales are welcome. Since the car comes with a clear California title, it is ready to go with no excuses or delays. The vehicle is located near Disneyland, in Anaheim, California. Payment can be through Paypal or cash when you pick it up, or some combination of the two. I cannot accept checks of any type. I'd like to see the vehicle picked up within a week to ten days of the sale. As an Ebay buyer and seller since 1998, I understand buying a vehicle over the internet can be an unsure thing. However, in this case the photos don't lie and the car really is this nice. If you are local, please come and take a look. If you are not, maybe you know someone in southern California that can come and see this for you. If you have questions, send me your phone number and I'll call you.
