Vehicle Detail
Here for sale is my 1977 Monza Spyder without the engine . It's a pretty decent body that was sanded down and lightly primered (hot-rod dark grey) by the previous owner. It's been stored in the dry far several years and there is no rust-through anywhere. The floors are solid as are the fenders and quarters. The interior is ok except for the driver's seat, headliner (none) and front carpet. The chassis wiring appears to be fine as everything functioned when I drove it. I also forgot to mention that there are two sets of window trim included with the car as is the OEM spoiler. It has a TH-200 transmission (shifts good) that I recently put a filter and pan gasket in. If I were going to run the trans, I would put a front and rear seal in it before putting it into service. The rear end is a 2.73 plate-type posi (Eaton?) that was quiet. The rear brakes are toast and I haven't done anything with them as I was planning to convert to 5-bolt axles. The front end has the double-piston Olds Bravada brakes and spindles via Bob Gumm's ball-joint adapter kit. The rotors and pads are almost new so no further work will be needed in that area. The ball joints are tight but it wouldn't hurt to put some urethane bushings in the a-frames. I've converted the brake system to utilize a C4 Corvette master cylinder and booster (not included) so if you want to run that setup, I can show you what you'll need. I'll include the stock stuff (not installed) if you want it. It currently has a manual steering box mounted but I also have a power unit that will go with the car. Now the bad stuff..... - I canned all the 4-lug wheels except for the spare (pristine 4-spoke) so you'll need a pair of 5-lug wheels (and tires) that are compatible with the front brakes (S10 Blazer or Olds Bravada) and at least one 4-lug wheel for the rear to transport the car. - The sheetmetal on the top has some small dents or waves in it. This may be due to overheating during the sanding process. - There is no radiator or any of the engine components with the car. I will not ship the car. It must be picked up locally. If you can get someone to prep it for shipment and make the shipping arrangements yourself, that's fine with me. Other than the oil pan and air cleaner that are listed in separate auctions, I do not have any other Monza (or Vega) parts or accessories for sale. Sorry. On Jul-06-10 at 03:50:37 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added a photo showing the hood. It is now installed (hinges bolted down) on the car. In the same photo you can see the rubber nose a little better. I would say that it's in about average usable condition. On Jul-06-10 at 09:09:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I believe that the rear gearing is different than listed in my original description. It's most likely a higher ratio, maybe a 2.59 or 2.29. One of the local guys looking at it said that most of the 305 automatic cars were geared higher than 2.73, but that the posi carrier would be the same for all ratios in this range (there's a break point where you have to use a spacer for the lower ratios) . I was planning on a narrowed 8.8 so I really didn't pay any attention to the rear end except for the brackets.
