Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1954 (we were informed by two people that this is a '54, so thats what we're going with) Dodge Royal V8 Custom. This car is being sold as a restoration candidate or as a parts car. It looks to be about 95% complete, missing some of the trim pieces and a door panel and the engine bay looks very complete. It does not run, we haven't tried to get it running, and it doesn't drive. What you see is what you get- but we're happy to tell you as best we can what you're getting. The engine in this car looks to be the original 241 c.i. "Red Ram" 140hp "Polyshere" V8 (read: early Hemi-head), which in its day gave a spectacular 42mpg - a '53 Dodge won the Mobilgas Economy Run that year. The carburettor, exhaust, intake ect is all there. The radiator is original, it has power steering, and looks like it has not been run in a long time. We have not tried to spin it over by hand to see if ts free or not. It does have oil in it. Its got the automatic transmission, which also has oil on the dipstick. The brakes look to be all there. The heater blower motor and other electrical bits don't look cut up and butchered- it looks fairly original, if in poor condition. The interior is trashed. No headliner, seats are ripped up, missing the RF door panel- so there's enough there for patterns, but little else. The dash board looks to be in pretty good shape, with all the guages and the radio still in place. The body work on the outside look solid enough. Lots of bubbles in the paint at endges of panels, and at the base of the C-pillars it looks like the metal is getting thin. It has bondo in a number of places. I can't really tell whether it rusted through on the fenders or sill or how the frame is. The floor boards in the front are 'see-through.' The rear floor boards don't have any holes, but have lot sof rust on them. The trunk also has holes in it. The glass is all there and none of it is cracked, although it is getting foggy. All of the rubber is dryrotted and cracking. So thats what she is, a rough candidate that could either help another one to survive, or maybe she can be brought back. It looks like these cars go for anywhere from $5000-$50,000 depending on condition and everything. If you have any further questions, please call either 205.902.7625, ask for Gavin, or 205.862.0239, ask for Rick. We'll be happy to assist in shipping, though this one would probably be best to trailer home.
