1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 I own a FJ40 restoration shop, I got this 74 in a partial trade for a $20,000 original type FJ. I’ll explain all the previous owner did to it, and what my shop has done to it. The PO spent thousands on this rig and barely used it. I’ve gone through the entire thing to ensure it’s a safe and reliable vehicle for the next owner. This FJ40 goes down the road straight, can easily hold 70mph, it a great summer time fun vehicle. He wanted it to run like a small block chevy to tow his boat. He spent $6200 on this performance build. All 2F’s are gear driven, but he added a “noisy” gear drive so it sounds like a hot rod. Most guys don’t spend that much on a FJ motor, they just go to a V8, but this thing runs amazing. I’ve had over 350 FJ’s, this one runs the best of all the F or 2F motors I‘ve had, it pulls like a small block chevy. It has an electric choke Weber carburetor, an electronic ignition. There is a Centerforce clutch on the rebuilt 4 speed transmission and 4 speed transfer case. All of this has maybe 600 miles on it. The PO had a FJ40 shop in Portland do all the work to it, he also did a Rancho suspension lift, rear helper springs for towing, new body mounts and poly bushings in 2007. He added 35 in Toyo mud terrain radial tires on simulated bead lock rims. These go down the highway great, and the simulated locks are street legal. The PO never installed a front drive line in this rig after the lift. I’m having a new driveline made right now, it will be installed before it’s delivered. Body The tub is in great shape, there is no rotted out floor boards like you typically see in these rigs. The rear fenders have been cut to clear the bigger tires. Nice Man-A-Fre roll bar, with a new Spector bikini top. I do not have a hard top or a full soft top for this. My idea is to keep the cost down, as I’m always getting asked to sell cheaper FJ40’s. In the summer the tops all come off anyway. I’ve added a bunch of little things since I got it, my tech spent 4 days on minor fixes and repairs. Vintage stuff like this always needs a little tinkering here and there, but all the major stuff it good to go. I have not noticed any leaks on the concrete in my shop. This FJ is turn-key and ready to enjoy now. Turn-Key means you can drive and enjoy it the day you get it, it does not mean it’s a perfect restoration that will never need anything. I’ve gone over all the major components, but please be realistic in this price range. There is no emissions equipment on this FJ, these are catalytic converter exempt from the factory, but the smog pump etc is all gone. The cut off on emissions is usually 1975, so this 74 will never need it in most states, but check your state to be sure. I have a clean clear WA state title in my name coming from the state. The application was approved 2 weeks ago when I transferred it, I’m just waiting on the physical paper work. Sometimes the state gets them back in 2 weeks or 2 months, I never know. When it sells, if it’s taken too long, I can do an affidavit in lieu of title to get it transferred to you quicker. In closing, this is one cool and fun to drive FJ40 that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. I’ve sold FJ40’s in the past to celebrities in the 75-100k range, and several on eBay in the last 5 years. An FJ40 always maintains, but most often increases in value no matter what is done to it. If it runs and drives and says FJ40 on the title, it’s always worth a fair amount of money. The days of the high dollar FJ’s are dead, I now offer cheaper alternatives in order to stay in the diversified market. I have access to 25 trucking companies for transport anywhere in the lower 48, I get 30% better than the eBay sponsored sites. Shipping is $600-1000 depending on shipping lanes and location. I set up shipping for you, you just pay them directly. I offer delivery within 400 miles of Benton City WA at $1.00 a loaded mile. The vehicle and fuel must be paid for before the vehicle leaves my property. You or anyone with your interests in mind are welcome to inspect this FJ40 during the auction. If you buy it on eBay, you own it, that does not mean you get the first chance to look at it. So, if you buy it on eBay, I require a $1000 non-refundable deposit immediately via Paypal, NO EXCEPTIONS. You are welcome to hire an appraiser. I own Auto Appraisals and Pre-Buy Inspections, so when looking in the phone book, don’t call me to appraise my own vehicle. It’s unfortunate I have to say all that now, just a lot of bozos on eBay, reiterate this is a binding agreement, you no pay, I have my lawyer wife send you nasty letters.
